SOURCE: Will not strike an arc

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

First check the F1 fuse to see if it has failed. (Item 36 of manual link below page 56) Then read across the armature at the brush holder terminals to check for less than 500 Ohms resistance across the armature. This checks the brushes and the armature. If you do not get a reading... pull the brush holer / block and check the armature by reading directly across the 2 sliprings still looking for less than 500 ohms resistance. If you have resistance then most likely there is a problem on the control board. These things are notorious for burning up a varistor on the control board. The varistor will be circular and a little smaller than a dime with 2 terminals connecting to the control board. When they fail they usually brun one contact of just completely destroy themself. Since you said you had voltage on one leg ... at this time I suspect either a problem with the brushes or the armature. You should read 5 - 11 volts DC at the brush holder with the unit running. If you do not have 5 - 11 volts DC at the brush holder... suspect a control panel problem on the circuit board (Item 4 page 58 of below link) . Make sure to check the VARISTOR on this board along with any signs of the board being very hot.

The Brush holder is in the owners manual on page 60. It is part number 180 556. (Note space in PN) Here is the owners manual with parts list:
http://www.hobartwelders.com/om/0900/o945_hob.pdf

Since you have no AC or DC output this appears to be generator field related.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

KIPOR 3000TI INVERTER. Kipor 66284 DC Receptacle. Can I run it without one safely?it's been removed

It's generally not recommended to run a KIPOR 3000TI Inverter without the Kipor 66284 DC receptacle. The DC receptacle is an important safety feature that helps to protect the inverter and any connected equipment from damage. If it has been removed, it's possible that the inverter may not function properly or may be at risk of damage.
If the DC receptacle has been removed and you are experiencing issues with the inverter, it's best to contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend the appropriate repairs. It's also a good idea to stop using the inverter until the issue has been resolved, as continuing to use it without the DC receptacle may cause further damage or pose a safety risk.

Hi, I have a Kipor sinemaster 1000 generator that has been in storage for a few years added fresh fuel and engine started. The 12v dc works however when I plug an appliance in the main power plug there is...

The DC output for battery charging is from the engine alternator and is completely independent from the generator inverter.

As this is an inverter unit the typical polarization techniques for standard generators will not apply.

The ouput indicator being lit means the inverter input output should be good. This further implies a circuit disconnect state at the outlets. Try pressing the overload reset switch to make sure it is not in an odd state.

I have a Wacker portable Gen gs 5.6 It runs good but it also don't put out power ether

I suspect the inverter module has failed. The module failed on my kipor gen and produced the same problem, ie no A/C outpu. Module was about $300 for Kipor. Fitted myself, problem solved.

Kipor ig2000 sinemaster generator runs good no ac power.

You have a faulty inverter board from what it seems. I'd warranty the generator as soon as possible. Without proper electrical experience, I do not recommend you attempt to replace it yourself as you could cause a fire or injury.

I need a 5kW DC generator with -48v output.

I have 5kW generators that produce -48V DC. The problem is that unless your generator is designed to produce -48V DC it would be difficult to retrofit an existing AC voltage output with a DC output.
