When I feed copies thru top feeder a black lines appears down one side of paper

Hello,

This type of problem is usually caused by something like white out or lint stuck to the scanner glass. Open the top of the scanner and clean all of the glass surfaces with window cleaner sprayed on a paper towel ( do not spray on the glass) , allow it to dry and then try to scan. Here is a link to some pictures that show what to clean.

I hope this helps,

Alignment issue causing copies to be cutoff

Firstly check are the left i right holder in paper tray in their position accordingly formats eg A4. Then very well clean, if necesarry replace, pick up, feed and separation rollers. Clean the other paper feed rollers on paper way.
Also check the registration roller and clutch.

If nothing of this helps, send another message, then you will get adjustment info.

Copies run through feeder distorted

Document feeder Paper feed rollers should be cleaned with alcohol, blow out the document feed area with compressed air (computer duster), check feeder for bits of paper, post it notes, and signature flags. Clean glass, check for sticky areas on the glass.

Hope this is of some help.

I'm getting lines across all copies I insert via the feed

Yep. remove and clean that small strip of glass on the left side of the machine. open the feeder, there are 2 phillips screws, that glass either has somthing on the top or bottom surface.
It makes it easire to clean when you remove it and place it on a white sheet of paper, that way even if it is a really small spot you can see it easier.
The lamp does not move when you use the doc feeder and a small spot on that glass will make line across the entire page.

Lines appear when making a copy using document feeder tray

If the lines are vertical (in the direction the ADF feeds, 11in long for 8 1/2 by 11) You can try cleaning the glass the scanner uses when it's using the document feeder. Pull up the top left part of the printer where the documents feed, there's a little rib in the middle of the side to help you do this, then simply pull up the assembly underneath with all the rollers in it, you should see about an inch of glass underneath and a centimeter long strip of white plastic on the assembly (this serves as the white background when feeding slimmer papers) Clean them both. I'd recomend any glass cleaner, just don't spray it in there, spray it onto a cloth.

Copying with page feed results in a vertical line on every page

There must be a strip of glass about one inch wide, next to
the large glass. There is the problem !
Clean that strip thourougly. When you use the feeder the pages
are scanned thru the small strip of glass.

Black lines on copies when run thru fax feeder

There is a thin strip of glass that you will see when you lift the top feeder. There is most likely white-out on it.

When you use the top feeder, it doesn't use the large glass, it only 'rolls' the original document over this small strip of glass.
