Mar 20, 2013 - My mom still has one of these old Maytag A9700 washers and it's about 20 years old. Just from looking inside, it appears to be 3.4-3.6 cu.ft.
You should be able to. Check the ends going into the washing machine for plastic screens. They may need cleaning, if calcified from hard water use some vinegar and it will dissolve the calcium.
If you go to Sears or any appliance store, they sell all brands of Washers and usually have only 1 water hookup prepackaged. Staying with the same brand should insure no problems.
Neil, I need to know if the motor came with a wiring diagram when it was purchased or did it just come by itself. You may have to learn how to read the wiring diagram that is stored inside the control panel.
It was manufactured in May 1993. However, depending on the problem, you may seriously consider a repair. The reason I say this is because this is a GOOD Maytag, before they started going downhill, and will probably last another 10 or more years. If you consider fixing it, post the actual problem it's having and I'll let you know what I think.
