Canon PIXMA MP495 InkJet Printer - Offline issues

For Vista wireless setup: Open your Control Panel. Choose Printers. In the Printers box it lists your printers. Hover over the wireless printer icon, right click, choose Run as Administrator, then choose Use Printer online. This should change the status of the printer to Ready (from Offline). Be sure you've chosen this printer as your default printer. Might have to do this on a regular basis.

I made some copies last week and now my printer won't print. It keeps saying it is offline. I've turned it off, changed ports into the computer, shut the computer down, and tried most of the things I can...

  • Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.

  • Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open.

  • Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.

Canon MF5550 printer driver for Windows Vista

I just found this solution TODAY! After trying for a whole year to fix this thing... It was right at my face the whole time!!!!

    1) Uninstall your old Canon MF5550 driver.
    2) Reboot your computer
    3) Download the Canon MF5550 driver Windows XP version.
    4) Open your Vista Control Panel, then click on PROGRAMS (not on Uninstall or something else...)
    5) bellow "Programs & Features", click on "use an older program with this version of Windows". Follow the wizard.
    6) Locate the program manually. (If you need to search the folder where you downloaded your Canon driver, just go to search file on C. It will probably download on your desktop or Downloads)
    7) Open the MF5550 Folder where you downloaded the driver, and click on the setup.exe file.
    8) Choose on the next screen Windows XP
    9) If you need to change the display settings, go ahead. But I didn't change anything. I just clicked NEXT.
    10) Fill in the box: RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR and click NEXT.
    11) Click Next again and let Windows Vista do its job.
    12) If it worked... just click yes and finish. If it didn't, click NO and run it again.

I AM SO HAPPY THIS THING WORKED!!!

Let me know if this worked for you!!!! I know I've looked everywhere for this solution...

Canon MP 600 Will Not Turn On .... grumble.

I had this same issue. Lost power in the house for just a second, but after the printer would not turn on. I think that the loss of power caused the printer to get stuck in a locked state. Tried everything I could think of including changing outlets that the printer was plugged into but nothing seemed to work. Saw a troubleshooting tip on the Canon webpage about unplugging the unit for 5 minutes and thought it was hooey, but tried it anyway. Ended up leaving the unit unplugged for probably 15 minutes and when I re-plugged it in it fired right up.
