How to make my profile an administrator in vista ultimate?

Try logging in to local profile

eg: use PC name and "\" and then Administrator

eg: PC001\Administrator

Can you login as a guest? First try : a system resore/recovery. You didn't give info on the make, model of laptop?

Vista Home premium drivers will work perfectly with Windows Vista Ultimate. When installing Vaio event service and Vaio Control center make sure that you run setup file as administrator. Right-click the setup file and select option "run as administrator". By reinstalling utilities this way they will work perfectly well

Run the setup as administrator and choose yes.

so that the setup can install the correct drivers.

This take a few moments but it should be done.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate and have no trouble at all
and some times vista and windows 7 ultimate don't
let you install software that is based on older systems.

Hi there. With Vista, even though you may have an administrator account, some actions require you to go through an "extra channel", so to speak. This is to add extra security to your system from outside interference.

What you should try:

Click on your Start Menu.
At the bottom, under All Programs, type regedit. Do NOT hit enter.
At the top, it should display the regedit program.
Right-click the regedit program and then select Run as Administrator.
It should now let you edit.

Try holding the shift key and then right click the file you want to delete and then choose run as administrator. This will help you elevate the user rights(if you are not the admin for the computer it will ask you for its password.).
