Hello friend,Insert DVD labeled vista, and boot from DVD/cd rom
during the installation select repair. On the repair window u can restore your booting files.
try it...
The problem is that your XP cd doesn't have the correct drivers for your hard drive built-in. You need to modify the cd in order to make it work correctly.
These are the normal steps on desktop computers but
should work in your case too with a fresh installation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Enter bios settings and set CD Drive as first boot device
2. After reboot if you are asked if you want to start on cd chose yes.
Use the recovery cds that came with the laptop. If you dont have the cd then you could reinstall xp with a normal cd and then search for the drivers for the correct model on the HP website which is here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
If that's a brand new model damroo, the recovery cd should be a software that you can click on the desktop, it should say something like HP PC System Recovery or something similar. For a complete guide, try checking this out. It should be similar in making recovery cd on XP/Vista.
