Singer 3317c

In a previous posting, I gave you a link to download your user's manual. You should ALWAYS keep and refer to that manual! I have machines that are almost 50 years old, and even though I've sewn quite a bit with them, occasionally I STILL have quesitons and have to refer to it.

Where can I find service manual

Hi Catherine,
I'm not sure if this is the manual you need, but there's a free one for a white 1740 "quilters" model available through the Singer website, strange as it may seem. (In fact you can find free manuals for many White brand sewing machines via the Singer website.)

Look under Singer's "Support and Resouces" then select "Instruction manuals" , or follow this link: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals

On the Instructions Manual page you'll see it says "Find Your Manual - Step 1, Step 2 etc etc" and under that there's a search box that says "Model Number"

Into this search box just type "w"
(don't type "white", because that doesn't work)

You'll be taken to a near incomprehensible results page but scroll down and you'll see there are two listed as W1740

Good luck, and I hope you find what you need :)
Kind regards
Kura

This Machine was a gift,

Hi Ellen: The AK861598 number you gave IS NOT your model number but instead it is your serial number.

You will need to determine the model of your machine visually. Here is a good guide to do that.

http://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm

Then when identified... go here and get a manual.
http://www.parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/

Most of those older manuals have adjustment instructions.
If you need a parts list you can try this link.

Have fun and good luck getting your old girl going.

Hi, I have an Elna Carina and the flywheel is

I can direct you to a service manual for your machine but it may be something that you need a trained Elna service technician to deal with.

Link is http://www.arizonaexpressionz.com/elna_service/air_elec_carina_elec_SM.pdf

I am more familiar with the SU air electronic where you just hold the outside of the flywheel and turn the inside knob to disengage and rengage the clutch - didn't realise the Carina had a button flywheel release until I looked in the service manual.

Anyway, you could try dismantling the flywheel following the exploded diagram in the service manual if you are technically minded.

Or just take it to a reputable serviceman, I'm a big fan to supporting these guys as their knowledge is invaluable.

How do I threat the machine??

Hello. The best way for me to assist you is to provide you with the link to a free manual http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html
once you get to that link just insert the model number which is TS380. Then look on page 10 - preparation for threading. Enjoy.

Where can I get a repair/service manual for a Husqvarna Viking Platinum 770 Sewing Machine? How about a Janome 634D 2/3/4 thread serger?

I can get you the service manual for your 770, but you are going to need some fairly specialized tools, meters and gauges to do any repairs.

In 37 years of servicing sewing machines, I've seen lots of machines worked on by backyard mechanics; some are ruined, some are repairable, ALL cost much more to repair after you tinker with them.
