SOURCE: switching my hayward pool pump from 230v to 115v

Setting the pump for 115V wont by itself cause the trip. There is either a ground in the circuit or the GFI is bad. You may want an electrician to test any further than this.

SOURCE: I am trying to find out how to wire the pump?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

It will not matter which line goes to which post. Just put one to L1 and the other to L2. As for which voltage to set the pump for, you set it to match the voltage present on your lines you are connecting.

double the amps, 230 runs cooler (my fav) . 1.5 is 9.6 amps at 230 volt. you will need to set the motor to run on on the lower voltage this is why you are having problems.. also the motor is thermally protected . this why it will run for awhile and shot off .. remember to prime the pump after any pump repair !!!! . jay the pool pump repair guy in longwood florida

I have a AO smith ST1152 and red black and green wires. How do I wire it

Verify the voltage to the pump. These days motors and pumps largely are set to run on 230v out of the box (for in ground pools). If your supply voltage is 115v, the motor will run at half speed. This would cause poor suction. If this is the case, do this:

On the side of the motor there is a diagram on how to convert the wiring from 230v to 115v so it will run on the correct voltage. Most of the time, that's the issue. Flip the breaker off before working on it.

Changeing 115volt to 230 volt

Most power Flo pumps run above ground pools and run on 115v only. You can look at the wiring diagram on the motor label to see if it is convertible, it will show wiring configurations and amps for both 115v and 230v. If not, it is a 115v motor only.

A o smith b854 motor schematic diagram 115v . How do I hook up 115v to the factory set 230v?

Remove the back of the pump housing ... inside you will find the 110 volt connection place.

If your pump is on a dedicated line (as it should be) run it on 220 VAC ... To convert your line from 110 to 220 all you need is a double pole breaker of the proper amperage ... take the white wire presently on the ground bus bar and put it on the other side of the new double pole breaker. Then you will have 220 ... and you will save a few bucks on electricity.

My motor is wired for 230v and I need it to be 115v

It should be. Look closely at the motor nameplate and you should see a small diagram telling how to connect the motor for 115v or 230v. Most newer pumps have a small selector of some sorts. Either a plug that pulls off a couple post the include an idicator arrow for where to set the plug for either voltage, or a dial you turn to show it. Either way, you should be able to set the motor for 115 rather easily.

Hi,
Is there a coverplate where the wires come out of the pump? If so, remove the plate and there should be a wiring diagram inside.
Good Luck
