No Allen Wrench in my possession fits these holes

Is there such a thing?

  • skystrat Mar 13, 2009

I know that, however no, repeat no Allen wrench in my thoroughly extensive collection of Allen wrenches fits into the side panels of the VAIO tower. They are either too small or too large. The question is, does Sony have it's own Allen wrench?

the hex heads are for show / decoraration only.from the front of the computer go to rear along the left hind side.find two (2) release tabs, they need too move out-wards towards ,the removable left hand side panel, which once tabs release ; allow it to slide back wards towards to rear of th unit.hope this is clearer..from rear view ,find one upper one lower release tabs press both in towards the outside(right-side) of unit, then pull panel backwards;(towards yourself).

If it is a U-brake or V-brake all you need is an allen wrench is a special "L" shaped six-sided wrench, coming in various sizes, that fits into a recessed hexagonal socket hole in the end of an allen wrench.

Prssure washer m1000 3 hp used to wash boat water leaks from inside cannot find allen wrench to fit wrench has small hole in center

They are probably not allen head screws but rather tamper proof Torx screws. You can break out the small pin or you can now buy special Torx bits with holes to remove tamper proof screws. They should be available at most hardware outlets or at shops that sell Chinese imports. Torx bits are prefixed with a "T" and the size you are looking for is probably about a T20, but the sets come with an assortment of sizes up to about T40.

Need to change chuck

When you buy a replacement chuck it will have detailed instructions- at least Jacob's brand chucks do. Basically there is a retaining screw inside the chuck that needs to come out first- it may be left-hand threads . Then you put the short end of a 1/4" or larger allen wrench in the chuck and close it tightly. Set the drill on a bench with the chuck off of the bench and strike the allen wrench with a mallet in a counterclockwise direction. Do this several times, then you'll be able to spin the chuck off by hand. Reverse the process to install the new chuck.

My handle is loose but I cannot find a tool that will fit the set screw. What is it, what size. Blade screw, Phillips Screw, Hex, torx, what? Moen T2442 single handle shower diverter.

It would be an allen wrench. Any typical multi sized wrench should have the proper sized allen wrench.

The holes can often become filled with grime so be sure to seat the wrench properly to prevent stripping.

Similar problem

That would be the thread guide. You need a small allen wrench to put this whole thing back on. There is a hole in the right side, looks like a hole, it's blackish, but is for allen wrench. The curved metal piece slides up into a tiny hole from the bottom near where needle enters then slide whole thing back on machine and tighten with allen wrench.

Door handle is loose

If my memory serves me correctly, you should see two posts attached to the refrigerator door right now. The handle slips over these posts and if you look closely there is a little hole in the handle where you would insert a allen key wrench to tighten the little screw against the post protruding from the door itself. With the door handle in your hand, properly match up the correct allen wrench to fit the allen screw very snug. Realign the door handle on the protrucing posts and tighten. Once finished, you should have a tight fitting door handle again. Let us know if we can help further.....Eric
