If there is a chuck bolt in the center (where the bit goes) remove it (left hand thread). The chuck is threaded onto the splindle(right hand thread). On some of those drills they have a small hole in the housing that lines up with a hole in the spindle. Put a pin punch in to lock the shaft so you can unthread the chuck. If you clamp a 3/8" allen wrench in the chuck it acts as a good handle. If there are no holes to lock the chuck, if you lay the drill on a bench and give the allen wrench a sharp blow with a rubber mallet it will unthread the chuck. If the chuck is damaged and will not hold an allen key you will have to cut the spindle off and replace the chuck and spindle.

Shawn, Get a new switch for your drill.

Inside there is a little plastic shaft, where the selector hooks to. They have had problems over the years stripping. Replacement part is still plastic. Yay! You may need a bearing puller or find some way to get the clutch off the shaft. Lemme know. Please rate me

It sounds like the gears themself are stripped. On the inside of the drill right behind the head is a gear that turns the head itself. When that gear is stripped the head will spin sometimes withou pressure but when pressure is applied the head will not spin

It could possibly be that your brushes (Bosch part number 1617000525) are worn down to where the drill won't work any more. Take the two screws out of the back of the handle and remove the housing cover to check them. More likely your switch (Bosch part number 2607200918) has gone bad. If you lost the variable speed a while ago that was a sign the switch was already breaking down. Also located inside the housing cover, you can check for burnt wires or melted plastic around the switch but it is possible the switch is bad without having any visible problems outside. Fairly easy to replace, just make sure you connect the four wires to their proper contacts.

Howdy, I am willing to confirm what I believe you already know; it's cooked. Now about fixing it You can do it yourself with bosch parts for almost the cost of the drill, or have it done for somewhere between free and ? by Bosch depending on how long you have had it. Bosch has a prorate form of warranty repair that sometimes works out really well.

When you buy a replacement chuck it will have detailed instructions- at least Jacob's brand chucks do. Basically there is a retaining screw inside the chuck that needs to come out first- it may be left-hand threads . Then you put the short end of a 1/4" or larger allen wrench in the chuck and close it tightly. Set the drill on a bench with the chuck off of the bench and strike the allen wrench with a mallet in a counterclockwise direction. Do this several times, then you'll be able to spin the chuck off by hand. Reverse the process to install the new chuck.

probable not worth repairing, if it smells then it got hot and might have melted the windings on the armature or field,, but take a look inside the handle area for any signs of burning and check the condition of the brushes before buying new one.

Hello. If the gun has cooled down and still will not start up then the gun will have to go into a Bosch service center for a repair. Here is the owner manual with the pertinent info
