AFTER THE TV IS ON FOR A SHORT PERIOD, THE SCREEN GOES BLANK BUT THE AUDIO CONTUNUES. THE TIMER RED LIGHT STARTS FLASHING. WHEN THE TV IS TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN THE SCREEN COMES BACK ON, BUT AFTER A SHORT PERIOD THE TV SCREEN GOES BLANK AGAIN, AND THE TIMER LIGHT STARTS FLASHING AGAIN; THE AUDIO IS UNAFFECTED.
TO GET THE TV SCREEN BACK AGAIN, I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE TV AGAIN AND BACK ON AGAIN. THIS CYCLE WILL GO ON.
HOW DO I GET TO KEEP THE SCREEN FROM GOING BLANK AND THE TIMER LIGHT FROM FLASHING WHJEN THIS HAPPENS?
I have the same trouble. Going to a different channel and back will bring the picuture back, but only for a few minutes. Tech support rebooted the cable box, but that didn't help.I have the same trouble. Going to a different channel and back will bring the picuture back, but only for a few minutes. Laptop computers have power saver features that will blank the screen after a period of no input. Default on these can be as short as one minute. Users can change these settings to avoid screen blanking, especially when doing thins like watching movies or streaming video. The power saver feature may be different, and thus the screen shut off timer may be different when the unit is plugged in.
Usually Sony and LG Blinking Codes are the same. Here is what I have.
Unit is dead, No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse,
Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.
One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis
Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.
Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit,
Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted.
Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately.
Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code.
Nine blinks - Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).
Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board.

Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK

What kind of projection tv are we talking about a lamp based unit? or a
CRT based one? If it is a lamp based one then you could have a dirty light engine which is expensive to replace. If it is a CRT based one you could have bad convergence IC or one of you tubes is in overdrive and the screen voltage needs to be adjusted.
After turning on about 10mins in the screen starts flashing off then on the audio is not effected at all the timer stand by light flashes 5 flashes
