This use to be simple for most units and yes it would work, however, manufactures became wise to this idea and placed a relay inside the unit that must be reset to prevent us WISEGUYS from doing so, but i do not know if this is the case with yours, if it is then you can run a toggle switch between the unit and the ground in order to reset this relay as needed with a flip of the switch

if your pioneer radio has the light blue ipbus/changer plug on the back of the radio, you can use this adapter and turn on the <aux> in the menu where you set the clock.

no, you can't, because watching a video while you drive is an insanely stupid thing to do.

There is no video on my kenwood ddx8017, why? Do i have to bypass the parking break wire? which one is it, the solid green, or red with black, or pink?

If you want to watch videos on your unit it is necessary to bypass the parking brake wire from the Kenwood unit. The parking brake wire is light green and the best possible way to bypass the unit is by installing a toggle switch. The toggle switch should be a two wire device. Connect one wire to ground and the other wire to the parking brake wire from the unit. This will allow you to switch the supply on the wire to ground when needed.
Also, in some older Kenwood units you could just as easily connect the parking brake wire to ground and be done with it but, it does not always work.

Jensen double din dvd monitor uv8020

Here's what you need to know: DVD head units have one extra wire in their wiring harnesses, compared to a standard CD head unit. On the Jensen, it's a peach-colored wire, and is the activation wire for the DVD feature. During the installation, the instructions call for this wire to be tapped into the emergency brake indicator light wire. The reason is this:

The e-brake indicator light is what is called a "ground complete" circuit. That means that the bulb always has power applied, but when you pull the brake, that puts a ground to the wire and completes the circuit, allowing it to illuminate. The head unit sees this ground, and activates the DVD player.

In mine, I simply ran this wire to a ground (I used a screw near the fuse box), and I put a switch on the wire, so I could break the ground contact at will. Jensen calls for a procedure to activate DVD playback. In their instructions, they tell you to select DVD from the option menu, and when the "lawyer screen" comes up (the one warning you to park before you watch a movie), you release the e-brake for 3-5 seconds, and then reapply it. To simulate that with the switch I used, I leave the switch closed (activated), and select DVD. Then I flip the switch "off" for 3-5 seconds, and flip it back "on". This tricks the head unit into thinking I put the e-brake off for a few seconds and then put it back on, and the movie will start. Then I can drive away.

Basically, ground the wire that is used for DVD activation, and put a switch inline on it. Then you can break and reapply the ground in the manner of the e-brake cycle I mentioned earlier.

DDX512 Video Playback Bypass

I grounded my Jensen to a screw inside the dash. I had to put a switch on it though - Jensen requires an on-off-on sequence with the parking brake, which applies and removes the ground. I duplicate this by throwing the switch. Check the manual or online references to see if you have to do this. If you do, you'll need a switch. If not, you can just ground the wire.
