I am a senior citizen. I use a 6-year old Toshiba Lap Top model 2405-S221. It works great with windows XP but without sound.
I have tried checking the sound devices in the control panel. Everything seems normal but still no sound. How to fix this? Appreciate your expert advice.
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
I seem to remember that this particular model/series has a 'Sound Volume Control Dial' between the indicator lights and the headphone jack. Perhaps it just needs to be adjusted/turned. Of course the you could also verify that the soft controls (Volume Control and Wave) are set to your desired level and not muted. To check, double click on the speaker icon.
Pls post back updates on any developments. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
You may want to go to the "Device Manager" or Sound Devices, find trouble shoot...or some other tab...roll back driver, it may be a bad version of your sound driver
