It was a DELL machine, using a travelstar drive, we called DELL verified they were the owners and they gave the master hard drive password to the hard drive and it worked beautifully. did you check for pin one on drive and on system board they must be exact red on one both places also check drive to factory defalt setting jim

don't waste time n seek a professional supervision for a data recovery or data backup..
now try reinstalling os (i prefer winxp pro)..
make sure power cables are properly connected and the data cable too..replace with a standby..
replacing the RAM is next option..
glance on the m/b for defective capacitors (esp above 1000mfd) and mosfets..try replacing m/b with alternative standby..
the last, may b ur hdd is faulty..
contact ur system admin/vendor..

Let me list all of the possible problems to help determine exactly what is wrong.

It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:


If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.


If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

first is the harddrive spinning ? If not doublecheck all cables and ribbons connected to the drive and motherboard.
and if it is is it making any excessive noise? not good
next boot into bios and under the boot section check to see if the harddrive is listed if not you dont have the jumpers set right or the drive is not set up right in the standard cmos setup screen or the drive is faulty

the hard drive id damaged
if you are lucky it could be only the logical part (the circuits)
you can change it with a similar harddrive to save your data

if doesn't work, your harddrive is crashed

This trick is the proverbial 100 to 1 long shot but is worth trying with any drive that suddenly stops working - put it in a freezer bag, squeeze out as much air as you can an the put inside another freezer bag and then place in a freezer for an hour. Fair dinkum, this sometimes works but the drive may only work for an short time if quickly re-installed. If it does work, unload critcal data IMMEDIATELY.

if this is a samsung, on the actual HD, you will see the jumper labels like the one below.

Usually it will say:

M = Master
S = Slave
Cs = Cable select

but if it is not visible anymore and you have 4 sets of pins, then the slave may either be the 3rd or the 2nd if you are looking at it from the back.
