I want to clarify golu_fixya's solution.

While he is "correct" at least this fixed my problem. The directions are quite vague and not really direct

From the beginning

Make sure you are in MTP mode Settings - System Settings - USB mode - MTP mode

Plug in the device, you'll probably get the "help" bubbles in the lower right corner of your screen.

Start - (right click)my computer - manage - device manager

In should be under "other devices" Sansa Fuze - Right click - Update driver - Yes this time only - Install software automatically

Away you go, should recognize it as a portable device and install the drivers for it correctly.

Formatted Fuze, reset to factory settings.
When that didn't work, I opened device manager, under view selected "devices by connection." This helped me see Sansa Fuze right away.
I then uninstall and eventually I received a bubble stating it recognized a new device and was installing driver.
After installation was complete, I then open the Sansa updated and let it do it's thing.
It's now fine. Though now I have to upload my playlists again.

SOURCE: 2gb Sansa Fuze won't recognize 2gb Micro SD

place the blank card into the SanDisk player
go to SETTINGS press "enter"
go to SYSTEM SETTINGS press "enter
go to FORMAT press "enter"
it will ask "are you sure you want to format this device"?
select YES

dowload songs to REMOVABLE DISK drive F, at least that is what my PC assigned it to. You will overload your MP3 PLAYER if you continue to download to the Sanza Drive.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My computer does not recognize Sansa Fuze

Hi there,

On your computer, Go to Windows Task Manager or Control Panel. Find the Device Manager. There should be a list called Plug-N-Play Devices.

Find the one that should have the driver details of your SanDisk Sansa Fuze Digital Media Player.
Right click on it and select Uninstall.

Now plug in your MP3 Player again to the computer. This time your computer should detect that your MP3 player is connected and will install the drivers for the MP3 player again.

Hope I was of assistance to you,

Cheers :)

Testimonial: "I also checked Windows Guided Help. Their 2nd suggestion was to install the most recent compatible version of Windows Media Player. That worked."

My Sansa Fuze 4gb wont turn on and isnt being recognized by my computer, iv also tried to soft reset it many times , nothing seems to work.. help plz..

I've had the same problem with my Sansa Fuze 2GB. It's pretty frustrating, but in order to get it to work, I let it sit without touching it or doing anything with it for a few days. For 2-5 days, do not turn on your Sansa Fuze. After the amount of time has passed, try the soft reset again.

Sansa fuse wont charge

On your Sansa Go to "Settings" then "System Settings" then "USB Mode," change it to MSC, now try connecting it. If that doesn't work try the other modes just in case.
Hope this helps!
