Is this a bios error code onthe onbaord diagnostics?

As this is a server board be careful - reset the bios to defaults is the first step in solving motherboard issues.

Remove all cards and begin testing - remove all ram chips except one and test replacing stepwise until you have isolated the issue - usually the bios error code is the last item to pass before failure.

Looks like it could be DMA controller failure but you would need the manual for the board to be sure.

Also check the capacitors for bulging this is a common reason for all electrical failure not just on computers but tvs etc

Putting wires back on motherboard

Which type of wire's are they? If you are talking about mobo onboard speaker and front led cables. It should be written on motherboard itself. You need to take it to bright light and try to find out. If it is speaker cables it should be in spkr word. If iti s front LED then it should be colour coding on motherboard. Good luck with that.

Dell dimension 2400 diagnostic led lights abc=off,d=amber, please help

Since that isn't one of the listed codes, it is important to see what the POWER LED indicates.
If it is Flashing Amber, most likely a bad power supply
If power LED is solid amber, then either the motherboard, or a expansion card in the motherboard has failed. Remove any expansion cards, (Modem, sound or video card) try booting again.
If no Change then a motherboard

Installing back my power switch and reset switch together with speaker, hdd led, and power led.

Hi,
On the motherboard the pinouts on the front panel should be colour coded, and marked with letters like in this picture >>>>>
ce10baf.jpg

The connectors are also marked corresponding to where the connect on the motherboard, like in this picture >>>>>>

If the board is not colour coded then the motherboard will marked with the same letters, you may need a strong light and a magnifying glass to see the marks and they are usually at the bottom right of the motherboard.

Regards.

Pulled off front cover. three sets of wires came off. need to know where to reconnect. white/red wire HDD LED, white/green wire POWER LED, white/black wire POWER SW

Hi. You may want to check your motherboard for this wires to connect to, First, check your motherboards manual and look where the FRONT PANEL is located, then on the front panel or in the manual itself it will tell you where are those wires should be connected to. If you dont have the manual for your motherboard search it on google and do the same, and if still you coudnt find it over the internet then just look closely on your motherboard and look for the words HDD LED, POWER LED and POWER SW, usually those words or the FRONT PANEL is located on the left side bottom part of your motherboard. Hope This Helps

Number codes for giving connections to HDD led,Power led, Reset SW & Power SW to motherboard

Those are really tricky and always vary from motherboard to motherboard.
without the exact model no one will be able to tell you exactly. But I'd recommend that you start out with the power (pw) plug and try trial and error. The only ones really necessary are the pw and reset. the only 2 that are polarity sensitive are the HDD light and pw led.
