S-Sir Sub Unit won't pair

Just bought the Sony Bravia DAV-HDX576WF system. The wireless S-AIR Receiver will not pair with main unit. Have even set the receiver directly in front of unit. Because it won't pair, you have to manually change the receiver to tv or dvd, or etc... and manually adjust volume for rear surround speakers. Ugh... Please help and be gentle. Helpful hints for dummies would help. Thanks Much.

Every time I try to pair the main unit and the s air unit, it says pairing failed. So annoying. Just put the speaker outlets in the back of the main unit and let me worry about getting speakers in the right place. I have no idea what to do next, but will try calling sony directly in the morning.

I almost went out and bought a Sony HDMI cable but I tried something first and it worked me. I wrapped tightly the transceiver on the back of the main unit with aluminum foil and what do you know it fixed the problem. I guess since I was using a cheap HDMI cable the foil helped to shield out the interference. Sony HDMI cable $70.00 or aluminum foil 5 cents.  Let me know if this works for you as well.

In order to properly pair the units, verify that the channel switch on the back of the sub units are set to either A, B, or C. Then go into the setup menu and go to setup tab. You can then scroll down to system setup. Verify that the base unit is set to the same channel as your sub units A, B, or C. You then can choose the pairing operation. Have your sub units close to the base and on for this operation. They must be linked to have the pairing operation work. The pairing option will ask if you are ready to pair a sub unit. Select OK. You will then be instructed to begin pairing. Find the pairing button on the back of the sub unit and depress. Depending on the sub unit you may see a red light flash or the front display will say pairing. Once complete the menu screen on the TV will tell you that the pairing is complete and ask if you would like to do another unit. Continue if you have another unit or select OK to complete the process. Once you return to the system setup menu the channel indicator A, B or C will have the work pairing next to it (i.e A (pairing)). If you continue to have trouble you can change the RF channel on the system setup menu from AUTO to ON. Good Luck. CEB

Try removing the HDMI cable and pair the speakers. I read another review that stated the HDMI cable is beside the transmitter on the rear of the main unit and causing interference. When I removed the HDMI cable and replaced with Component Video, my unit paired immediately and the rear speakers worked. I am going to purchase a higher-end HDMI cable and hope it solves the problem. The reason I purchased this unit was to watch bluray in 1080p which requires the HDMI cable. Hope this helps.

Need replacement speaker cables for dav-hdx576wf

Since noone else gave you a good answer I will. I lost some cables to mine a while ago and found this awesome jerry rig solution; Go to radio shack, and ask for '14-16 gauge star ring terminal connectors' Should come in a pack of 10 and be about 2$. On the back of the unit where these connectors fit, there should be two prongs. You will need two star-rings for each connector slot. Wire up your connectors and crimp the ends LIGHTLY with a pair of pliers. The star-ring connector connected to the negative wire should be inserted to the left prong, (left if you are facing the back of the unit), and the right prong is the positive. If you did everything correctly, you should be able to make your own wires for sony stereo systems whenever you need to. Saved my ***, hope it did the same for you. Here is a link to what they look like. http://www.shopping.com/radio-shack-non-insulated-crimp-on-star-ring-terminals-10-pack/info

The S-Air receiver for this unit DAV-HDX576WF cuts out when i bring it upstairs. Ive read that it should go alot farther. Please Help!

Most of the distance mentioned in ads and manuals are direct line of sight. As the number of walls between the transmitter and receiver increase the range keeps dropping drastically. Its not the distance but the obstacles that come in between that matter.

Wireless speakers will not pair with the main unit

Hi,

TheSony Audio Interactive Radio Frequency (S-AIR) is a wireless digital audiotransmission signal that plays surround sound using a radio frequency that canbe placed anywhere that is convenient within the maximum communication distancewithout the signal breaking up. The system can transfer up to four channels ofCD quality (48kHz, 16 bits) audio data with no data compression.
You have to pair the S-Airunit with the Main HTS unit. When the sound transmission is not established, the indicator of the S-AIR sub unit does turnsoff, flashes or turns Red. Please try the steps mentioned below and checkif the issue can be resolved: · Make sure that there is no other S-Air unit nearthe one which you're using. If any, place it more than 8 meters (26 1/4 feet)away from the unit. · Make sure that the units that you are trying topair are within one meter (3 feet) of each other. · Confirm that the ID of the main unit and theS-AIR sub unit are set to the same ID. · You performed pairing the main unit and anotherS-AIR sub unit. Perform the pairing steps again with the desired S-AIR subunit. · The unit is paired to another S-AIR sub unit. Cancelpairing. · Install the S-AIR main unit and S-AIR sub unitaway from other wireless products. · Stop using another wireless product long enoughto confirm if the S-AIR main unit and S-AIR sub unit gets connected. · The S-AIR sub unit is turned off. Make sure theAC power cord is connected and turn on the S-AIR sub unit. How to cancelpairing? · Perform the ID setting of the unit as follows: · Press POWER to turn the unit on. · Press the FUNCTION +/- button repeatedly untilDVD appears in the front panel display. · Press DISPLAY while the system is in the STOPmode. · Once the CONTROL MENU display appears on the TVscreen, press the up arrow or down arrow to select SETUP , and then press + . · Once the options for SETUP appears, press the uparrow or down arrow to select CUSTOM , and then press + . · Once the SETUP display appears, press the uparrow or down arrow to select AUDIO SETUP and then press + . · Once the options for AUDIO SETUP appears, pressthe up arrow or down arrow to select S-AIR SETUP , and then press + . · Press the up arrow or down arrow to select ID ,and then press + . · Press the up arrow or down arrow to select thedesired ID, and then press + . · Once you select an ID (A, B, or C), theconfirmation display appears. · Once you have selected a new ID (or evenselected the same ID as before), pairing is cancelled. NOTE: To confirm the current ID, performsteps A-G listed above. When you pair the unit with the S-AIR sub unit, PAIRINGappears beside ID on the display for selecting an ID.
Pair the unit again and check if the issue is resolved.

Rear S-Air speakers cutting in and out

I read on another review that the HDMI cable is causing this problem because it is beside the S-Air transmitter on the main unit. I could not get my rear speakers to pair or work, and sure enough, when I removed the HDMI cable and hooked up the unit via Component Video to my Sony 52" XBR TV, the speakers paired and worked. When I plugged the HDMI cable in they did not work. I am going to try to purchase a higher-end, more expensive HDMI cable and see if that helps. The whole point of HDMI is for true blue ray 1080p pictures. Hope this helps.
