It is still under warranty. Contact Seagate about this matter. They should replace it for you at no cost.

No I don't believe they will recover your data. You could ask them though. There are services that will do this for you, but it will cost plenty of money.

Dimplex duo storage heater making clicking noise and also the programmer dimplex PX4 is no longer working

Iv sorted the problem. Iv had 3 dimplex heaters fitted and the one in the living room was making a shocking and most annoying clicking noice when the fan stopped and started... it was annoying to hell.... At the bottom of the heater left hand side I loosened (just two turns) of screw in the grill. My heater has been perfectly silence every since. The screw was far to tight.

Wont boot and clicking noice

A clicking noise usually indicates a bad hard drive. Any eMachine is now very old (in computer years), with an obsolete operating system.

You should consider replacing rather than repairing.

Have a 1.5. TB "Sea gate Free Agent - Desk". Used

click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems
hope this helps

I have a Sea gate free agent Go 250 GB. This was working fine till two weeks back. Now when I plug it in it makes some sort of noise but the comupter does not recongnize the external hard disk. I tried...

The noise is made by the rubbing of the reading head on the platters = mechanical defect.
There's nothing that can be done, by anyone , to fix it - it's dead and all the data on it is lost.

< problem identifing Sea-gate external hard drive (500 gb- no external power) > my extrenal hard drive has a odd problem : sometimes when it got connected to the vista laptop its light turn on &...

First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine.
try it in different usb ports.
Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers.
then check.
Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check.
Try your harddrive in different computer if it is not recognized on another computer too then your harddrive has internal issue.

External hard drive please helpmalfunctioned when

Well if the Ext. HDD is making any kind of noise like spinning up
and spinning down , or a clicking sound the unit may possibly
never run again , if the unit does boot but is not recognized by
your computer try troubleshooting start first with the power outlet
then the power cord then the data cord , make sure its running
when your computer is turned on , there is only one connection
from an Ext. HDD to the computer and that's its data cord , if its
a 3.5 HDD install it into a PC as a slave to try to recover the data
and never for any circumstances place an OS on your static Ext.
HDD , if your HDD never turns on again there are many services
online who specialize in HDD data recovery , if you attempt it
yourself you'll need a pretty close match HDD , a very clean
room a pair of non-powder latex gloves and some tiny Torx
head drivers , a clicking sound is the pick up heads , a spinning
up and down sound is the motor , if the unit needs to be formatted again you will loose the data that is stored on it
sorry I can only help so much , and troubleshooting is always
the best bet , try taking the enclosure case apart and make sure
everything is connected .

Ext 500G Fantom HD turns on but won't boot up.

Hello,

First of all make sure that the USB port that you are using to connect it to your PC is a USB 2.0 port, and not USB 1.0.

Also if it came with an external power, connect it to the external power before putting on your PC.

This is because the voltage supplied by USB 1.0 is lower than that of USB 2.0 and therefore might not be enough to power up your USB Drive.

After making sure about this, power up your system, and plug the flash drive, then Right-Click on my computer icon, select manage, then go to Disk Management Option.

On the Disk management option Page you should see ALL the drives installed on your system, including the hidden ones, so what you will just do is, try and locate the one representing your flash drive, and right click on it. then select "Change Drive letter and Paths", and give the drive any new, unique letter (i.e alphabet) different from the ones already on your system, and click on OK.

This should make your Hard Drive to be detected automatically.

Kindly keep me posted about the problem

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck!
