My Janome 204d Serger won't form a chain stitch. It is threaded correctly. I have changed the needles??

I would suggest that you check the needles again, make sure they are both fully up into the needle housing. Also they should be at different heights in order to form the stitch sequence.

It is important that you thread the loopers first in the sequence shown in your manual, then the needles. So you may need to recheck the threading again and make sure the threads are in all the eyes correctly, especially the lower looper. Also some overlockers, have a sliding eye on the lower looper for ease of threading, if yours does, make sure it has been slid back to normal operating position.

When you have checked the threading up, take all four threads under the raised pressure foot and make sure that the upper looper thread and lower looper threads are not crossing over each other. Lower the pressure foot and try to chain off again.
I hope this helps you to resolve the issue.

Right hand needle comes un threaded. sews fine for about 5-10 inches then i hear a small clunk sound and the thead breaks near the needle. Thanks for helping me. I just spent over $100 because the far...

Many times you can get a small burr on the tip of the lower looper and it will break one of the needle threads. Run your finger nail off the tip of the lower looper, all around, and check for a snag as your finger nail slides off the tip of the looper. You can get some very fine sand paper 600 grit and gently rub on the back side, top, and bottom tip of the looper. Never the front side of the looper. Try serging again and see of that doesn't help.

Lower thread breaking on lower looper ( green code) It won't sew over seams breaks everytime I rethread it

has the cone of thread at the back got caught up? this sounds like your thread is being caught and not feeding freely through the tension guides. Check the thread cones are okay and that the thread is pulling freely off the most right hand cone (lower looper). Also this thread dial should be set to the same tension setting as the next dial to the left for the top looper. Other possibility is that the tension disc itself has become gummed up or dirty with thread lint or dirt. Turn thread dial to zero and clean between the discs be rubbing the selvage edge of a piece of fabric between the discs gently. Now return tension to 5 or normal setting and try again.

The lower looper keeps breaking thread

Hi,...if the lower looper thread is breaking before you sew six inches or more then I suspect a threading problem. When the lower looper thread breaks, You MUST unthread the needles before you thread the lower looper. Thread the looper and then rethread the needles.

Hope that helps,
Doug

Letture leaf edging

From "Serge With Confidence" by Nancy Zieman:

Set the machine up for a 3-thread rolled edge. Normal width; length 1 - 2.

Use Woolly Nylon in the loopers & regular thread in the needle.

Lock or disengage the cutting blade.

Guide fabric along the right edge of the presser foot.

Stretch and equal amount from fron to back while serging.

Lower the differential feed, if available to about 0.6.

Serge at a slow to moderate speed.

Practice with scraps first.

After serging, gently stretch & release the fabric edge after serging.

MyLock 634D won't serge

Check that your lower looper is actually threaded and not tangled with the upper looper (needle thread) when it moves. I wish they'd include pictures in the manual how to lay the thread.

Janome left needle thread breaking CONSTANTLY

Sounds like a tension problem. Your machine should have two tension adjusters. One for each needle. The book that came with your machine will tell you how. Another possibility is a bent needle.

Yes, the model I used had a self threading lower looper. Just put the thread into the guide and flick the switch
