Need adapter connectfor an HP Photo Smart 35 mm slide scanner
Need to adapt an HP Photo Smart 35 mm scanner to new computer that only has USB connections. Does an adapter from CS100-818035 plug to a USB plug exist? If so where can one be obtained?
Re: need adapter connectfor an HP Photo Smart 35 mm slide...
The HP Photo Smart 35 is a USB printer. Your computer has USB ports. You can utilize an open USB port on your computer to connect the printer. What is a CS100-818035 plug?

Try upgrading to v4.02 driver. You may need to download 4.0 first as 4.02 may only upgrade from 4.0. The scanner runs with v4.02 on my Mackbook pro but I can only scan using the slide adapter and the film holder at present. The film adapter will not work but i'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.
Make sure your router is set to accept Wireless-B connections...most aren't. Log into your router and setup wireless, using an SSID and security. Then connect with your laptop and you're good to go.
Place your document or picture on the glass. If scanning film, placethe 35 mm negative or slide in the special adapter provided by HP.Select the Scan Picture, Document or Film button depending on what youare scanning. Select the Make Copies button to copy the document orpicture directly. Click "Scan" and then "OK" to see the scan preview.
According to the manual, you should always scan from the HP scanning software to scan slides using Scanjet transparent material adapter. There is no button that you can set for default slide scanning properties. This is shown on page 8 of the manual for the 3500 series scanners. The manual is available here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/72847/Hp-Scanjet-2300c-Series.html?page=13#manual .
Since the scanner works with pictures, make sure that the TMA adapter is plugged into the back of the scanner. Next open the software, HP Photo & Imaging Director. In most versions of Windows, press Start and look for the HP programs heading. Expand this to find the executable file. Alternatively, find the icon on the desktop or find the software in the file explorer (Program Files/HP/ on 32-bit versions, Program Files (x86)/HP) and then the appropriate sub-folder. Now try to scan the slides when they are loading in the adapter.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your OS if you are still having problems. Some newer OS versions may have installed generic drivers for the ScanJet 3570C. The generic driver might not communicate with the TMA properly.)
The scanner has a lock which locks the film adapter into the scanner when film is inserted. You probably still have film in the adapter from the last time you used it. If the adapter is pulled to remove it, the connector can become disconnected, which prevents the film from coming out, but the latch is still engaged. With the scanner off, push in the adapter to mate the internal connector. Turn the scanner on then off, the film should eject. Once the film is ejected, the adapter should be able to be removed. Refer to your manual for reference to this problem, I have experienced once before. Once you figure it out, you will not forget, I guarantee.
