If a Mitsubishi (Proton is what is listed here) look on the back for the correct and full model number, no 54 inch sets, 55,60,73 etc.

Let me know if power light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off............

My tv will trn on but will turn right back off what could be wrong?

Sounds like a fuse, it will turn on but once it heats up in a matter of seconds then opens up or turns off. Sounds like you need a tech either way, if the tv is worth it.

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)

I bought the tv about 10 years ago and was told I would have to buy a separate "box" for HD reception. Any clues?

dc6piece,

This unit does not have a HD tuner so you would need a separate box. See Best Buy. They can help you.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Anyone could help in regards to tv picture quality please. I just bought a nice LG HD TV. The picture quality is very nice and sharp, but the movies (dvd or movies on tv) doesn't look...

I don't think it is with the tv. You got a high end tv there and it is ready to get hd pictures from any other source. Although your tv is ready for HD, it doesn't necessarily means that that you will get all pictures in HD. It will still depend on devices broadcasting to your TV. If the signal is not HD, definitely the final picture on your TV will not be in HD quality.

HD Hookup on Dish Network 2nd Location

In order for you to receive HD broadcasting you must have a HD-TV, otherwise you wont get the picture in HD. Also I should point out that you need to make sure that the signal itself is being broadcast in HD.
