SOURCE: fishe & Paykel fridge drain electricity cause power serge

Heya Helen,

On the old F n P fridges they use to use a 12v motor that was open shaft, there fore it wouldnt have a earth on it. Althou it can still over current. In lame mans turns I would say that it would be the compressor.

In terms of replacement, a new compressor in generally a third of what a new fridge cost. It would be a good idea if you didnt have the money for a new fridge but on that you dont get a warrenty. If you could get a domestic refrig tech out he would be able to quote on repairs.

Hope that helps

SOURCE: dometic rm2852 does not run on gas

So, the solution was simple but not obvious: the heat probe and the igniter are one and the same item, and all we had to do was bend the probe/igniter closer to the burner. After we did that the refrigerator started to behave properly.

Oddly enough, the repair manual for the refrigerator shows a igniter with a heat probe above it: the is not how the refrigerator is built.

SOURCE: banging noise

The compressor is probably loose on its mounts, but one of the most overlooked causes of inefficiency is dirty condenser coils. These are usually under the refrigerator behind the front grill, or on the back on older models.

There are brushes specifically designed to clean the dust and dirt off of these coils, but anything you do to clean them is better than nothing. It's amazing how much dirt can accumulate on these coils. I've seen refrigerators with so much dust accumulation that I litterally could scoop it out with my hands.

The coils are usually in a 'V' shape which makes them all the more difficult to get to, especially from the front. But DO try cleaning the coils first and while you're inspecting the coils, see if the compressor mounts are loose or broken. That's what's making the racket, but you'd be surprised how many ills cleaning the coils will fix.

SOURCE: 3 year old fisher and

This is the main relay that is chattering and it can be due to the failrue of the relay if your compressor is cooling the fridge alright.
it will also be good to remove relay and check the contact, ,if bad replace. Also check the main capacitor of the motor and it can be faulty lead to poor starting and making the relay chattter..

How do I fix my washing machine? It doesn't appear to feed enough water into the machine. The machine runs through a full cycle but appears low on water even in the middle of a full wash cycle.

I can try to explain the difference between today and the old washing machine. My question would be, are you satisfied with the washing result? If so, then everything is fine.
There are four factors that affect the washing and they make one single round (duration, temperature, mechanical action, chemical action). Old washing machines are spending more water, more detergents, more electricity power, and consequently more spoiled environment and duration of washing was app. from 1 to 1.5 hours. Today washers use less water, less detergent, less energy power, less polluting but because longer duration of washing cycle app. from 2 to 3 hours, wash result was the same as in the old machine.
I think that today confuses people how is possible that washing machine wash three hours (longer than before) and consumes less energy? Believe me this is true, and every service tehnician will explain it.
Because old habits many customers put the same amount of detergent (do not read the manufacturer's instructions) and therefore have problems with the skin. That is why an increasing number of washing machine has the option of additional rinsing cycles.

What is 3250 wattage i am looking at a gaggia machine to buy and it says it is 3250 wattage will i need special electrity power thanks

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Please explain your query a bit more... What I understand is that you need to know what that 3250 W means. Actually this the power (approximately maximum) that can be generated using that equipment... Every electrical equipment consumes certain power e,g. Ceiling fan ~100W, Iron ~1000 e.t.c. You wouldn't need any special electricity power as such.....

Seems the problem is with the elctrical in the house (built in '05). 2nd time oven has fried control board; microwave once; pc once. Neighbors have no such probs. Where do I go from here?

An old fridge / freezer is the most likely suspect for power spikes within your own premises leading to damage to electronic appliances. Failing that, arc welders or any electric motor which frequently cuts in an out (air conditioner, compressor, etc).

You can have a surge diverter installed in your switchboard, this will resolve any spikes that arrive at your switchboard from the power grid and spikes that are generated on other circuits in the house. However, be aware that this may not be sufficient to protect equipment on the same circuit as the spike-producing equipment. Surge protected power boards or adapters can help protect sensitive equipment or quarantine a fridge or similar appliance responsible for generating the spikes, although the best solution is to identify the cause and remove it.

Hi tere i have a kenmore elite calypso motion washer machine. It doesnt want to turn on right now. It doesnt do anything when I push the buttons either. This machine was bought second hand.

Don't know if you have done this already but you need to sure that you have electrical power available to the machine. If you don't own a multimeter (they are cheap to buy), you can check the outlet you are using with another appliance, a toaster or iron would be better because they consume a good bit of current. Also, most homes have 'ground fault interrupters' (GFI) which protect against electrical shock and these are very sensitive, tripping at very low currents. Any machine that works with water is likely on a protected circuit and if there is no sign of this protection at the outlet you are using, check your breaker box to see if you find breakers that 'look different' and these will normally be equipped with a 'test' button.

Getting electric shock from water in washing machine and laundry

Yes, because there may be a problem with your incoming electric service. Call your power company to check out their equipment, if their equipment is ok, then call a reputable electrician, because the problem may involve your equipment
