Some drives may initially need to be formatted to become usable. So, you have to format it to open the hard-drive.

first quick format it. then do normal format.

TRY GOING TO ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, UNDER STORAGE CLICK DISK MANAGEMENT. WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN ENLARGE THE PAGE, LOOK FOR THE DRIVE, THEN RIGHT CLICK THE DRIVE AND SEE IF THERE IS AN OPTION TO MARK THE PARTITION AS ACTIVE.......OR SEE IF YOU CAN FORMAT FROM THERE AS WELL...............USUALLY NTFS. i have nokia 3110 classic mobile. the memory card is nokia. i set password for my memcard. i had a software problem with my phone. so i gave for installing sw for my phn. after installing the software, when i opened my mem card it asked password. but i forgot the password. so i wnt to format it. but for formatting also it asks password. pl solve my problem

Go Start>Setting>Control Panel>
Or Start>Control Panel>
Then open> Administrative Tools>Computer Management>
Then select In the left Column Click disk management
Then locate your pen drive and try to format with fat file system
Also you can try to remove the partition and create new one

Its high time that you take backup of your usb drive and format it. Copy the data back to the USB once format is finished.

It seems to to me that your USB is about to die.

It sounds like you need to format the drive/partition. Right click on MyComputer, choose manage, click storage, click disk management. Find the unpartitioned space. Right click on it and choose format and give it a drive letter.

i cannot actually get what is the problem here but if you trying to ask how to format the mmc you can use a card reader that has an MMC slot. this can be displayed automatically on your windows explorer. right click and choose format to format the MMC.
