The drum in the dryer has most likely has a belt around it that makes it turn. This belt could have broken and you hear the motor running but the drum can't turn. For more info look it up on you tube. (dryer belt replacement)

If you are comfortable useing a volt meter and a ohm meter I can walk you throught the steps otherwise you need to call a repairman, If you are not getting any heat and the tumbler is turning it is possible the element is bad again only a test meter can tell for sure or you can take the dryer apart and look at the element to see if it is broken make sure the power is turned off at the breaker first also unplug the dryer.

The dryer squeeks and it gets worse with a load sounds like its coming fron the centre of the drum at the back
All dryers have to have a way of allowing the tumbler (that's the thing you put the clothes in) to turn freely, not all of them are the same tho,some use bearings, some use slides,others use rollers. Over time these rollers will need to be oiled,the slides will get thin and start metal to metal contact causing a noise, The rear bearings will then start to make their way to china and cause the tumbler to rub into the heating element and OUCH! These things will cause the motor to prematurely DIE! Its best to examine the dryers, rollers, and slides when you first hear the noise, but who does?

Dryer takes a least two cycles to dry a load and just started making a strange noise.
hi,if you belt runs blower and tumbler,it could be lose belt,or worn out. the blower creates draft in dryer,and tumbler to fluff up. if the speed of tumbler or blower is not rite it will take long time to dry.and the nosie is the belt sliping.

Electric dryer makes a rumbling when tumbler is turning.
Check the drum bearing, a load noise, and often spinning problems are symptoms of a bad drum bearing.The bearing is at the base of the drum and accessing it is not easy.

I have a top loading Kenmore High capacity dryer that is over 10 years old, it has been working very well, unfortunately when cleaning the lint filter my wife dropped a piece of paper down the lint duct hole. The paper evidently fell to the bottom of the lint duct.
