6 year old Casio no. 2271 has ceased responding to buttons

Over the last few days correct responses became less and less. It is now 'seized up' on 'Set'    'AL - OFF'
Would removing and reinserting the batteries re-boot the system? If not. what?
Thankyou
Murray

Hi, If you buy some new batteries - i.e. from ebay (very cheap) and replace the old ones - or take tyhe watch into a jewellers and get them replaced (appx. £15) this should do the trick. The batteries should be replaced every 2 years.

I can't set the day of week on my Casio, CA-53W. Thanks

If the day of the week is incorrect, make sure the date is set correctly. The format on the Casio CA-53W is year first, then month, then day last.

Battery its ctl1616 they said NO NEED FOR BATTERY CHANGE but it's not true. How many year this battery last?

The CTL 1616 is a special device.
It's not really a battery, but a "capacitor", which means, that it's mainly supplied by the energy of the light. The capacitor is designed to maintain the functions only for (short) periods of darkness.
It's NOT a "standard lithium battery", because It has a different voltage (2.3 V instead of 3 V) and consists of different materials.
Unfortunately, the capacitor loses its ability to store the energy over the time. So your watch may be able to maintain all the functions for more than 11 months of darkness in the BEGINNING, but after a few years it may only last for a few hours!
However this may be STRONGLY influenced by the use of the functions: for example the automatic reception of radio signals or using a digital compass may strain the energy seriously.
So, the use of different functions may affect the lifetime of a CTL 1616.
I also recommend to expose the watch to (bright) light as often as possible in order to maintain a HIGH level of stored energy.
I also heared that there were serious problems with the quality of this type of capacitor a few years ago. Maybe a new CTL 1616 will last for decades.

How to adjust the time on a CASIO W-59 watch

Hi Harry,

Your Module number is 2271.
1. To set the time, press and hold button A (left top) until Seconds digits start to flash.
2. Press button D (lower left) to move flashing in the following sequence to change other setting:
Seconds >> Hour >> Minutes >> 12/24 Hour Format >> Year >> Month >> Day >> (Then back to Seconds)
3. While a setting is flashing, use E (+) (bottom right) and B (-) (top right) to change it.
Note: When in the 12/24 Hour Mode, use E and B to toggle between 12-Hour and 24-Hour Mode.
4. Press buton A to exit setting screen.
Your time should now be set.

You may also download a manual for watch/Module number:
http://pathfinder.casio.com/resource/manuals/module_2271.pdf

This should give you all the info you need to operate all the functions of your watch. Thanks.

I replaced all four batteries and i still have nothing .inside the watch it says to jumper the A C point with a twizers. what is the AC point and where.this s a casio 2271 2years old had factory batteries...

Casio battery changes are quite tricky. If you look closely at the watch module there is a place for the battery and a v-small depression usually circular on the silver module .There will be the letters AC in small writing. You need to touch the depression AC and the battery at the same time with a conductive tweezers. This shorts the module and re sets the watch.Make sure any seals go back in to protect from water/dust.

I BOUGHT A CASIO WATCH A178WA-1AV CASUAL CLASSIC .I CANT GET CORRECT DAY SAT BUT MONTH AND DATE ARE OK 2-13. NO INFO IN MANUAL HOW TO ADJUST.

Hey makfloyd2

Sounds like you have set the year incorrectly. Continue as if setting the time as you already have done by holding top left button, then when screen flashes scroll with bottom left button and the watch scrolls in the following order - seconds, hour, mins, YEAR, month, day. Check that year is correct and also check the format of the month and date. In England our format is 10/2/10 which is 10th Feb 2010 (dd/mm/yyy), however some casio watches are in US format mm/dd/yyyy. So check this out too.

Hope this solves your problems

Kind Regards

Jim
