I)HP Desktops, Laptops donot provide recovery cd's when u buy ur system but it is already built in your system if you to use it try clicking on start button and explore "recovery manager"(idont know the path) you will be able format ur system with this recovery manager(all the system setting will return to factory settings.....)

ii) however if you recovery cd you have to call hp customer care, their toll free no is : 18004257737 and ask the customer rep to provide recovery cd(either they will charge u for that or provide it for free through shipping), if you want it free( i will tell a trick), say the customer rep that i am unable to perform recovery by the recovery manager which is already present in my system....i think it is currupted and something like(in this case they will provide it for free....otherwise you have to purchase it from them....)

Note:

Recovery CD or Recovery Manager

usually Recovery Manager is software which is inbuilt in your system(it will be in start--->all programs---->Recovery Manager----->)which will recovery your system or bring back your system to the original factory settings, if this goes bad ..................

you can depend on recovery CD provided HP to perform recovery on your system ..............

Thanking you,

M. Sridhar

Normally hp has a partition on the hard drive to recover windows. You need to check the software and see if thats built in. If not you should call hp and they can send you the recovery disk.

Please help how to format pavilion dv4000 because effected virus. I hope you will help me, thank you. Paul

Before formatting or reinstalling windows try downloading ESET smart security 30 day trial and uninstalling your current antivirus.
http://www.eset.com/.
If you can install it do it. This will surely clean up your computer, if you see everything is fine then there will be no need to reinstall windows.
Remember that a complete windows install will make you loose everything!
From the Windows XP desktop, click Start , All Programs , and then one of the following options:
The following options are for HP computers. Compaq computers will have similar options (for example, Compaq Tools).
1. HP Tools , and then HP PC System Recovery .
2.Hewlett-Packard , hp pavilion pc tools , and hp pc system recovery .
3.PC Help & Tools , and then HP PC System Recovery .
should be ok.

Please Help with a system recovery on a HP pavilion a1253w!

The reason the cd recovery did not work is that it was made for some other HP model.
On the unit you are trying to recover, reboot the computer and press F10 . several times. You should see a recovery menu. Select the type of recovery that will format and recover the unit to OEM defaults.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I GOT HP Pavilion dv 6915nr.... with windows

Hello
how did you format you computer? if you didnt delete the recovery partition you can start recovery to press F11 when bios starts.

HP should also be able to send you recovery disks for vista.
Im sorry to say but warranty doesn't cover formatting the disk, that is not a hardware failure

Recovery required but no CD available

Boot into bios, setup to start on a cd.
Burn from another machine first:
a WinPe, BartPe, Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc. Bootable CD.
Boot with any of these and see what happened to your files.

You never even stated what OS you had.

Sounds 2 hot.
