Connect an USB keyboard to your laptop and if the keyboard functions normally then you need to replace the laptop's keyboard or just use the USB keyboard.
You maybe able to get a replacement keyboard fron this site.
Keyboard replacement, LCD screens for mobile phones, Ipodsand computer equipment.http://www.yallstore.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=1lrjst3ncshlb4c7frn9bev3c3&keyword=keyboards

I would recommend to open your keyboard (if not sure google or youtube) and check the connection on the motherboard. Sometime this might do the trick. Also recommend to look below keyboard to look for part # to ensure your order the right keyboard. Good luck.

I don't understand. Did you replace the keyboard for your laptop? It only cost about $10-$20 on ebay

Hp pavilion dv 6000 keyboard not responding. Some of the keys will not respond at all. I checked the drivers and tried to update, but says most current installed. It has been doing this for about 6 months....

You need to check in the BIOS if the keys when typed does make beeping noise. Set BIOS defaults.
If the keys are still not working than boot the sys to the recovery manager and press ctrl+d to open the CMD box and test the key board there.
Boot the sys 3 times to BIOS and set BIOS defaults,
If it doesnt work try the latest update and drivers for the sys. If it doesnt work that means the keyboard needs to be repaired

Keys not working on keyoard

Your key board is faulty, you need to change the entire keyboard for your buttons to work well again. But if you cannot afford to change it now, then I would advice you get an external key board either USB or Serial pending the time you have enough cash to purchase your notebook keyboard.

Take care.

HP DV 2000 keyboard not responding on all keys. Laptop is 2 years old. Tried all usual remedies including keyboard replacement. Works on a USB plug in keyboard. Any ideas please

If a section of keys isn't working at all, you'll likely need a new keyboard.  If the problem is with IOPUJKL:M keys you may have the Numlock on.
