I'd need to know what content you have on unstated CD, what is it file there?If store bought music discs, say so it's CD-DA format that...and all PC's can read them (in fact an acid test)1: the CD is no good, scratched,2: wrong CD, some CDs do not work in very old CD drives, like CD-RW, CD-R, disk , called home made disk.do not work here.3: the old CD drive is dead now, or dirty optics inside.4: the XP or VISTA OS are dead OS, and microsoft shut down the DRIVER servers making all this FAIL.XP needs SP3 service pack to run CD drives some.Vista SP3, same reason.5: the PC is virus infected and can't do much right.6: the PC drivers were erased by someone doing bad things on PC. 1. Shut down the machine
2. Remove the Battery and AC power
3. Press and Hold the Power Button for 1 minute
4. Let go of the Power Button and put it all back in
5. Check if the keyboard works

go to the RUN option. for this press Home Key+R and then type cmd.

I had trouble looking up that model on the HP page, but you should check this page and see if this model is affected by this NVidia litigation. If it is, you can get it fixed/replaced on NVidia's dime.

I think you can clear it when the HP logo shows up after you turn the computer on, hit the F10 key and there is an option there

Try installing the CD/DVD driver.You can download thedevice drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. You will need a operating system disk or a repair disk to fix it. Insert it in the drive then boot from it. You want to get to a dos command prompt (black screen with white lettering) and type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command. bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd Reboot and see if the problem is solved. If not get back to the dos command prompt and run the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine. If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs. In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear. In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Disconnect power and remove main battery, put out several sheets of paper towels on a table top, open laptop and lay it down with keyboard facing downward on the towels, most fluid becomes trapped between the keys and should drain out. Next take it to a service shop to have it dismantled to remove any additional fluid on the motherboard and have the keyboard replaced.

You may need to go in to control panel on the start menu, when you get there click on the keyboard icon and adjust the key repeat delay and repeat rate to suit yourself.

It's above the right shift key , it has a left facing arrow on it and the picture I've just seen of one it also says Enter.

Remove the keypad after the battery and power was removed and allow the keypad to dry after it is opened out fully. Repeat drying process using a hair dryer mildly and also dry the mother board in case the water had seeped into.hope it solves the issue or else it can be a damaged board, interface or the keyboard.

Check device status and make sure it says "This device is working properly".Restart the computer and try again. If problem persists, then it means you might end up replacing the keyboard.But before then, you can get an external keyboard (USB). You can be using this pending the time you replace the keyboard.Or you can use on-screen keyboard. Click start > Accessories > Easy access > On-screen keyboard. Right click with your mouse anywhere on the desktop away from the ICON's and click on properties on the drop down list. Then click on screen saver and click the arrow next to the screen saver that is currently being shown and click "none" instead. Then save and close and your done!

you cannot reset it. to void of warranty return to the store where you purchase.

Check the Control Panel - Power Options and see if it's in the High Performance mode, if not set it to that.

You could do one of two things;

Create your own user profile operating as the administrator/owner of the computer. It is probably right now set up to however the store employees wanted it.

If that doesn't work for you or you don't know how, turn the computer over to see the bottom of the chassis. You will see a small hole labeled as "reset." Inside of it is a tiny rubber button, use a bobby-pin to push it down with the computer powered on and hold down until the computer shuts off then release. It will restart on it's own.

I have the same model with the same problem, a friend of mine who is a technician removed the cooler and cleaned it, then with a hot air gun heated the video chip and the computer worked again
