Beetle left turn indicator runs rapidly

My left turn indicator clicks repetitively and far faster than the right. The light on the tail light is not as bright and it seems that the defroster on the back window does not work well either. Two repairmen have told me nothing is wrong but it continues - the very fast click when it is on and the light seems dimmer and flashed very quickly as well

The indicator usually ony flashes fast when one of the indicators on the same side is blown, check the other indicators, should only be a blown globe, defroster should be a fuse =)

SOURCE: Engine will not turn over

My guess is that water may have got into the starter solenoid area and maybe there is a bad connection down there. If the dash lights don't stay bright when you try to engage the starter motor then maybe it is an earthing lead with a corroded connection.

If these checks don't get you going then the best way forward is to get a list of fault codes from the onboard diagnostic system and take it from there. You could either go to a VW dealer, or if you are technically minded you could buy a £15 interface cable, download some free "VAG diagnostic software" and run it on a portable computer once you are confident.
If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills.
If they do not, please hold off on the rating and add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

SOURCE: How do I change the rear tail light on a '04

IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR TAIL LIGHT BULB, FIRST OPEN YOUR TRUNK AND REMOVE A SQUARE GRILL FROM THE INSIDE OF YOUR TRUNK, THERE WILL BE A BLACK KNOB THAT NEEDS TO BE UNSCREWED TOTALLY OUT TO RELEASE THE BACK LIGHT CASING. NEXT, ALONG THE REAR FENDERS WHERE THE LIGHTS ARE, THERE ARE TWO GAPS, THE ONE YOU NEED IS THE GAP CLOSEST TO THE HATCH BACK DOOR. INSERT A BUTTER KNIFE OR A THIN OBJECT UNDER THE BLACK RUBBER. THE POINT OF INSERTION SHOULD BE WHERE THE TOP GAP MEETS THE LENSE. THERE IS A RELEASE TAB/CLIP ON THE LIGHT. ONCE YOU PUSH THE TAB(DON'T BE AFRAID TO PUSH HARD, IT TAKES A LITTLE FORCE TO PULL OUT BUT SOME TIMES THE LIGHT JUST POPS OUT). AFTER YOU PULL OUT CASING,YOU'LL FIND TWO LIGHT SWITHCES(ONE IS FOR THE TURN SIGNALS AND OTHER IS YOUR BREAK LIGHTS). TURN THE LIGHT SWITCH COUNTER CLOCKWISE(ASSUMING IT'S HANGING UPSIDE DOWN)AND REMOVE. SWITCH OUT LIGHT BULB WITH NEW ONE AUTOZONE HAS THEM FOR ABOUT $4.00 - PACKAGE OF 2)REPLACE EVERY THING BACK AS YOU UNINSTALLED IT. ITS RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE ALL BULBS, THAT WAY IT YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN LATER WHEN THEY GO OUT. IT'LL SAVE YOU LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY. HOPE THIS WILL HELP ANYONE SO PRINT AND SAVE IN YOUR MANUAL FOR LATER USE. ONCE YOU DO THIS AND REMOVE THE LENS YOU WANT TO SLAP YOURSELF ON HOW EASY IT IS TO DO IT. THE @#%& DEALER WANT YOU TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS ANF CHARGE $50 FOR A JOB THAT TAKES2-3 MINUTES. THIS INFORMATION WAS COPIED AND EDITED FROM ANOTHER vw OWNER. I HAVE USED IT AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!
When replacing the tailight bulbs there is two things you have to remember, when unscrewing the plastic nut in the back make sure you hold on to it so it doesn' fall down in the body. secondly when "carefully" prying the tailight out make sure you lift from what I would call the 7 O'clock spot if it was a clock, this is where the snap clips are, DON'T PRY FROM THE TOP this is where the factory tabs are and if you break them you need a new taillight- when replacing slide the top (1 o clock) in first and snap in the bottom. No hassles and NO breaking stuff that costs money!

HORN AND CLICKING
Shifting the wheel did not cause this you have a loose wire in your horn assembly and if airbag equipped as I EXPECT you will need a VW mechanic to remove the steering wheel and fix the crimped horn wire Do No Attempt this yourself you could cause the air bag to deploy unintentionally

Wiring diagram running light, need wiring diagram for 2006 dodge dakota ,right tail light is out but brakeand turn signal works

With a test light check if you have power there with lights on and with lights off, compare left side with right side as far as location in the tail lamp plug for the tail lamp park lights.Trace the harness back to the left side underneath usual corrosion in this area.

Dodge ram 1500 2007 turn signal malfuction

Good job, and good joe to you for solvin it! Now you'll remember that's a common indicator of a burnt out bulb. For some reason I can't explain, that is how a bad bulb acts on the flasher unit - by more rapid clicking (breaking contact inside the flasher relay at a quicker rate). It seems both the front and rear signal lights have to be working for the normal flasher rate ...well good.

Rapid right turn signal on dash but no right rear turn ligt at all

What that rapid turn signal on the dash means is, the rear turn signal tail light is burnt out. This is how you know the bulb is bad. Replace the burnt out tail light bulb and you will be back to normal.

How do I fix a turn signal light. The dash board right turn signal light is blinking faster than the left side? I need help

That is usually an indication of a blown bulb in the side that's blinking rapidly. Turn on the right side blinker and looking on the outside of the car, check all the bulbs that are supposed to blink and you will see on that is not blinking. Replace that bad bulb and the dash light will blink normally again.

99 silhouette.all bulbs are in working order.right (not left) signal flashes fast when headlights are on and even worse when brakes depressed(lights on or off).also lights on both rears are real strange on...

I had similar symptoms - rapid flashing of directional when headlights on and brake depressed when making a left turn, both directional indicators in dash light dimly when brake depressed, "Check Traction Control System" indicator On even with ATC turned Off and "strange" indications in tail lights.

Check the pins in the connector at the Lamp Holder Assembly for your Rt. Tail Light for arcing and corrosion. (The female pin is in the vehicle harness connector and the male is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly.) If found, because the male connector is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly, you'll have to replace the Lamp Holder Assembly and the harness section coming in from the vehicle containing the female connector.

I just repaired this problem in the left tail light on my '01 van with a part from a '99 van I found at a local salvage yard.

I have a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer that just developed a problem with the left turn signal. The left turn signal indicator on the dash is blinking rapidly and the tail light turn signal is out. I change out...

The Trailblazers have a common problem with the printed circuit boards in the tail lamp housing.
Unplug the tail lamp housing at the wiring connector and test for power with a test light. ( With turn signals on) You may have an open circuit in the lamp housing circuit board. Good luck

Tail light wiring connectors and wiring diagram

A test light checking each connector would be faster and easier to do. Maybe somebody may have a illustration for you but by far a simple test light is all you need with a helper turning on the different lights as you check them out and writing all your findings down

Front blinker and run light don't work

Look at the second page of the diagram at the link. The flag "E" in lower right has power coming from the switch. It goes to the instrument cluster, right mirror turn indicator, and right front turn bulb. Is the instrument panel light blinking? How about the mirror? Use these facts to find the break in the wire. If none of these lights is blinking, the switch may be broken, as yadayada indicates. See page 1 at the link. It has a separate contact for the rear light, which is why the back can work and not the front, even though the switch is broken.
