Hi there.
Can anybody help me.
I have a problem with my vw golf convertible 1997.
The top will not open or close,
I can hear the motor going but nothing will work.
There is enough fluid for the top to work.
Please help me please.

Replace the low oil level sensor in the side of the engine oil pan.

You can run your radio a number of days and will not run the battery way down. I had a car that did that and each night when I shut the car off I disconnected one fuse and did that till the battery did not run down. It took several times and I would write down the fuse I pulled. I found something was malfunctioning in my air conditioning switch area. My mechanic replaced something and is ok now. Not saying that is your problem.

Just slide the seat backwards and forwards and remove the bolts, and then unplug the harnesses underneath.

Remove the nuts or bolts holding them to the floor pan

on most VWs there are spring loaded lugs (X2) inside holes at the back of the steering wheel . you need a hand held mirror to view this and a short screw driver to leaver them aside while pulling the airbag towards you . it is very fiddly to do.

you will have to remove the door trim and tension up the nuts holding the handle onto the door skin on the inside.
