Used lens laser lens cleaner & now player won't play.

The player will rotate through the 5 disc slots, and on each one reads loading for a bit before skipping to next slot. The lens cleaner we used was origionally purchased for our cd player, and when our DVD player kept freezing, we tried cleaning the disc. This brought no results. So we tried the lens cleaner, figuring that a laser lens is a laser lens. The product we used was a 'Labtec' compact disc Laser Lens Cleaner AM-12. Should we open the player & see if there are bristles from the brush stuck in the player? What should we do? Help!!

You can open the dvd and try to clean it manualy.open the dvd so you can see the lazer.take a normal earbud and wet it with normal methylated spirits and clean the lazer gently with that.the lazer cleaners hardly ever work 100%.Just remember not to push to hard on the lazer or you will brake it.gently clean and wait for lazer to dry and try again.

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

Was this player playing previously? And how long have you been using this player? I suspect the lens of the player. Once the lens of the player becomes weak, it won't play discs any longer.

The first thing my mind goes to, is the lens. The lens id responsible for reading/loading data on discs. So if the lens is unable to read the disc, there is no way the player is going to play the disc.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or probably, a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

Disc won,t play it just keeps spinning it says loading but it won,t play

Hello,

how long have you been using this player and when did this begin?

The lens is weak such that it cannot load data on discs. Its spinning, trying to load, but can't because of the weak laser.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

Disc spins for about 30 secs then error reads wrong disc, I have 2 players, both same fault

Hello,

was the player reading discs before now? And how long have you been using this player?

I suspect that the laser (lens) of this player is weak, that's why it cannot load discs.

The symptoms is like that of a dirty or bad laser (lens).

Use a lens lens cleaner to clean the lens. But if that doesn't solve the problem, then it means you will have to replace the lens of your player completely, in order for it to play/read discs again.

Good luck.

Player does not recognize disks that have been loaded. When you hit Play, it pauses, checks all of the slots in the tray, and says there are no disks.

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it say no disk.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.
