Camcorder doesn't record I just see a blank screen with multicoloured vertical lines
My camcorder currently does not record, although you can playback previously recorded material with no problem in video mode. When I swith the camcorder to record mode I simply get a screen with multicoloured vertical lines, any suggestions? Is it the CCD? If so will Canon still repair it for free? Any suggestions please. Thanks.

A Q-tip should never be used to clean a video head. Unfortunately they can pull the tiny head out of alignment. I believe this is your problem and the repaid may be more costly than a new purchase.
Its a fault with many of the canons,
they have NOT recognised it,
but you can get it fixed free by a third party company
(cant remember off hand which one soz)
Funny how they do it for free,
as if canon are paying them so they dont have to own up !!!
I think u are using pre recorde cassetts that were recorded on any other camcorder.. Samsung D363 supports ntsc not pal.... and the cassetts recorded on pal must have prob with ntsc based device... all u have to do is record cassette with the same and then test playback...
