How to get stronger signal from wna1100 wireless adater
This is a simple, USB based network interface card (NIC). There's little to be changed as it is built with tiny surface mount devices that can not dissipate heat nearly as well standard through hole components can. Boosting voltages, etc will only shorten the life of the device.
Locating the NIC closer to the WiFi source will improve throughput of the device. If this is not possible, increasing the height or physically reorienting it may provide some gain. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a simple USB cable that will connect to the computer's USB poert and accept the WNA1100 on the other. These cables are often available at electronics and computer stores in 3, 6 and 12 or more foot lengths for under $20 (and significantly less online). I would not purchase or connect lengths greater than 15 feet, as this is the maximum length supported by the USB standard without some sort of active repeater built in to the receiving end. By placing the WNA1100 at the end of the cable, you are free to orient it in the best position to maximize capture of the WiFi signal, regardless of the position or location of the computer.

if it's going offline, then it's losing the signal, or is recieving a low signal, it should be at 54mbps but when it gets below around 24mbps, it will disconnect and look for a stronger connection in your area, or disconnect from the net altogether.
Put your router in a higher and better line of sight to your adapter, walls and floors can block the signal and check that it's not your router that is losing the connection.
