Hey everyone, I was trying to change my needle and it fell straight down I to my machine it's like I disappeared.... is there anyway To get it out ?? I have a Singer quantum 5417

Since the needle fell into the needle plate, first remove the needle plate. You need to loosen and remove two screws. Then lift off the needle plate. I think you should be able to see the needle between the feed dogs. In the future, leave the old needle threaded before loosening the screw. Temporarily thread the needle and make sure that the thread tail is long. Now, insert your new needle and secure it. If you ended up with the thread wrapped around the needle, remove the thread from the needle and then correctly thread the needle. If the needle falls, you can use the thread to carefully pull the needle back up by holding the thread on both sides of the needle.

I hope this helps.

I was filling the bobbin but the thread went under the bobbin and now I can't sew. Is there a way to get underneath to unwind the thread from around the post?

The cover over the feed dogs flips up or has a tiny screw which will allow you to reach it from the top with a tweezers or toothpick. Or a fine pointed scissors should allow you to snip the thread around the post until you can pull it off in small increments.

Feed dogs are disable.cloth not move

On mine , I have a euro pro the dog feeder would go up and down and not feed the fabric turns out a tiny screw fell out of that long mechanism that works the feed dog inside the machine so I found where it went and tightened all the other screws with a very tiny Allen wrench Didn't even look like a screw but all is well now and it works great it took me all night to figure it out but I saved myself a few bucks. So if all fails after cleaning and all that other stuff there might be a screw that is missing I hope I save somebody else money

Adjust dog feed

The feed dogs in all Classic Bernina machines from the 130-180\'s will eventually come out of adjustment. This is due to the so-called cost savings modern manufacturing method of drilling holes in the machine frame parts and using thread forming screws instead of tapping or cutting cylindrical threads and the use of standard fasteners.

Regarding the screw fastener itself having a cylindrical screw form, the Bernina Classic machines used thread forming screws. Not necessarily a bad thing but in this case a dumb idea. Because these screws are not exactly cylindrical, they will not hold tight over time, hence loosening of the feed dog\'s height adjustment. You will need a T-10 Torx screw driver to make the adjustment.

Proceed by opening the bobbin cover door. You will find a rectangular opening to your upper right and will be able to see the screw head of the feed dog adjustment. With the feed dog in the upper most raised position, loosen the screw and lift the feed dog. Tighten the screw.

Check the height of the feed dog by rotating the hand-wheel in the direction of motion until the needle eye is flush with the needle plate. The feed dog teeth will also be flush in the normal position. If too high or too low, readjust to this height and, voila\'..... SewTechnical Home

I purchased a fashion maker in second hand basis.now when i stitch the cloth is not moving backward and it is stitching in only one place.what shall i do to make the cloth move.

Take off the foot and remove the thread from your needle.
Turn the hand wheel towards you, and watch the plate the needle goes through.
The feed dogs should come up through the needle plate, move towards the back of the machine, then go back down through the plate.
If this IS happening, then your foot pressure might be too light or your thread tension (top and or bottom) is too tight.
If this is not happening, the most common problem is the screws holding the feed dog on are loose. Remove the needle plate, locate the 1 or 2 screws holding the feed dogs on and tighten them.
If the screws are not loose, I will need more information.

Thread jam bent needle feeddogs went to down postion and i can't get them to come up

Ok, your going to need to get a new needle. If you can, snip the thread jam to get it out. If the needle is stuck, trying loosening the screw(or whatever) holding it in. This is typically a tension problem I find, but as for feed dogs, did you forget to put the presser foot down? Also check the settings on your machine, mine has a switch to not use feed dogs.

Material does not feed therefore stitches are tiny. i have checked threading appears to be correct. Bobbin also correctly threaded. Feed dogs are up. Anything else I should look at. Many thanks

check the stitch length dial setting to see what it set on
the feed dogs job is to move the fabric so the needle can sew it
even if the feed dogs are in the up position the feed dogs may not
be working like they should and they may need to be checked.

I have a Kenmore 14 stitch sewing machine that I haven't used in years - when I try to use it, the thread and bobbin thread seems to catch and it won't sew forward

take out the thread and bobbin. run the machine with the pressure foot up and watch the feed dogs (toothy things under the pressure foot that move the material through the machine). if they are not rising up above the plate, then you are sewing multiple stitches in one place and that's what spools up the threads. take the plate over the feed dogs off (it just pops up). get someone to remove the two screws holding the feed dog on (it's a torx #10). the piece the feed dogs was screwed to rides up and down on a short piece of polished rod under it. the rod has gummed up to its bearing. bright light, look for this and get some oil (3in1) on the rod above the bearing and force the feed dog mount up and down until it frees up.

The needle will not pick up thread from the bobbin

Remove bobbin and be sure the bobbin thread is correctly placed into the machine. Put fabric, place feed dogs up, pressure lever down, hold the thread from the needle and stitch one stitch. This will have the needle go down and pull up the thread. You will never have a clump of thread under your fabric!
