I have kingston 16 GB data traveler 101 it cannot be formatted what do i do ????

I always get a massage that says windows could not complete the formmating ???????????

This could be due to virus problems on your PC. Try formatting it on other PCs. Else your data traveler might have been damaged due to dropping, rough usage etc which is less likely. Try formatting it on a linux PC as well.

plug your usb in computer and right clic on the usb drive then clik on format then press ok if you can not that the you must restart your computer and try again and send me report

1...Plug your Kingston data traveler in to your computer
2...Go to desktop and open "My Computer"
3. You will see your Kingston Data Traveler listed there
4...Right click on the Data Traveler
5...Click on "Format"
This will format your Kingston Data Traveler

that sounds like it is blank it should be preformatted and if you trying to format it try using ntfs or use its supplied software if it isnt formatting but if the drive shows that as free space that is normall

Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type CHKDSK q: /F
where 'q:' is the drive-letter assigned by Windows to your Kingston.
Press Enter.
When "check-disk" has completed, Windows will remote the "write-protect".

I can not format my usb and the total capasity

Format the Data Traveler:

Warning! All data will be lost.

1. Insert the DataTraveler into a USB port.

2. Right click the Start button via the Windows Start menu and slect Explore.

3. Locate and right click the Kingston removable drive.

4. Select Format from the pop-up menu.
Note: Always use standard FAT for drives 2GB and smaller. Always use FAT32 for drives 4GB and larger.

5. Click the Start button. A format Removable Disk Warning will come up. Choose OK if you want to format your drive. After the drive has been formated you will receive a Format Complete box. Click the OK button.

USB DATA TRAVELLER CANT BE FORMAT.

goto command prompt C:\Documents and settings \
then type cd..
then check name of the drive if it is G:
then type
C:\ > g:
g:\> format g then press enter
then it asks to compulsory format or not then press y
then the format is completed

Kingston? USB Data Traveler 101

Hi.

Your pen drive might have got corrupted.
Just format it and the problem will be gone.
