I have a WD elements 1042 usb , one day it was working perfectly , now i can enter or access any information on it , i even can't see the partition in my computer , but i can see the hard disk in computer management as unallocated partition , i tried to format it but with no luck , i used a software from WD website for formating the hard disk with no luck too, so if any one can help me it would be great , i don't wan to lose the data on it but if the is no other way so be it.

Have you tried accessing the hard drive on another computer?
Have you tried using a different USB cable?
Was the hard drive dropped or moved while it was plugged in?
Check the WD Site if you hard drive has warranty.

Chances are the drop jarred loose something in the drive that on;y caused problems when the disks stopped spinning and started again. Here is a list of recovery tools that would do the job if there is something there to recover. http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html
you will know within a couple minutes whether there is anything recoverable.
If it is that important you can send the drive off to www.OntrackDataRecovery.com and they should be able to get the files.
