Compaq Presario V6000 Power Problem

The DC pin on your laptop is bent/broken/loose. Look at where your power adapter plugs in on your laptop. Get a paper clip, bend it out to make a long paper clip and slightly push its tip on the pin inside your laptop. If the pin moves chances are either the DC pin needs to be soldered down or needs to be replaced. The part is usually cheap around $10 but the labor can cost more than $50.

the screens is dead right, no BIOS screens at all, means.? what?

Disconnect all cables from the computer. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds. Reconnect only the power cable and try to turn on the computer on pressing the power button If it turns on then good otherwise, switch the power cable of the computer with the power cable of the monitor as they are the same cable as the power cable could be bad but this rarely happens. Open the computer and see if you see any light on the motherboard, if you do then the power supply is bad. If you dont then both power supply and the motherboard could be bad.

This is a common eevnt the battery get so flat that the adapter will not charge it quickly.. You need to leave it totally alone for at least 8 - 12 hours... To see if the adapter actually works and PC is good, take OUT the battery, and plug IN the PSU, the PC will work, sans battery just on PSU. If OK, then charge up as related. It will do it after a ling time.. Sometimes batteries go so flat they are ruined, sa a new one may have to be gotten IF it does NOT charge up.

Unplug the power cable and pull out the battery.Wait 10 min and put the battery back again.If this not help your computer need service.

eh, did ya charge em?

My 6000 also died in a thunder storm with power surges.  Power seems to be coming in to the cord, but the ON/OFF button on the front does not turn the computer on.  Totally black screen, with no response.  Hoping for help too.

Check power out put of the adapter is it giving you the correct readings
Try to remove the battery and run it from adapter itself check to see if its working
Reset the battery ..by removing it from the system
