Last night I saw the lights in the house flicker momentarily... This morning, I turned the oven on, set it to Bake and within a few seconds, the control panel reported error code “F6 E0” then shut the oven off. The control panel also reported "Lost communication...". I read on another site that this code may require replacing the control panel itself. Apparently, the momentary power fluctuation wasn't large enough to damage the electronics (since the control panel still works), but was significant enough to confuse the electronics controlling the oven. To fix the oven, I simply turned the 30 AMP breaker for the oven off for about 5 minutes. When I turned it back on, the oven worked just fine. Solution #1 recommends taking off the control panel, which voids the warranty. It's more likely that it was fixed just by cycling power to the oven via the breaker.
It worked! I'm thrilled. Same exact experience. Read the manual - no help at all. Said to call for service. We turned off the 30AMP breaker for 5 minutes and wa - la! We're up and running!
Very helpful. We have had our oven for about 2 1/2 yrs and experience short power outages. Last night the outage caused error code F6eO. So turned the breaker off, waited a minute, and back on. It removed the code and oven now appears to be working. We are getting a high/low surge protector (15 AMPS) attached directly to the oven breaker to eliminate future issues like this.
thank you so much,i did it plugded off for 5 min and it worked!
Worked for me too!
Just worked for me too. Thank you all so much, saved me a service call!!
Not for me
I have a slightly different model I think, i dont' have the microwave model like many of these individuals. I took the stove top off like in most videos to attempt to change the fuse, however my model is different and the fuses are not at the top? where are they and what are next steps?
My model is: KGSK901SSS01, Please help/advise! :)

Wow! Same msg just after cookng on the oven came on. Book shows nothing. We followed the below msg of turning off the circuit breaker and waiting 5 min. Turned back on the circuit breaker and back to working thanks so much
We had the same problem when installing a KitchenAid combo Microwave/Conv Oven KEMS378. Lost Communication err F6E0. Turned out to be a loose connection to the top control panel. We were able to remove the top facia panel, unscrew the control panel and access the plastic connectors behind it. Checking the connections/reseating the plastic connectors got it working. Not forgetting to switch off the main breaker first!! 10 min job.
Very helpful and I just fixed my Built-in Electric Convection Oven. Switched off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes and everything came on just perfect. I was amazed at KitchenAid's lack of transparency as they never provide any information about the error codes in the manual or on their website. I was absolutely wrong in thinking that KitchenAid is about providing good products and service to customers, probably they are only about making money from us!. Thanks again.
Worked for me too.
Same thing happened to me. Power flashed off-on briefly and the display showed error code F6 E0. I checked the manual and there were no solutions except to call the service number. I called and after giving them all the information (telephone #, model #, serial #, etc) they said they would send a repair tech at my expense since it was older than a year. I simply lost power temporarily! I tried the breaker when it first happened but I turned it off then back on. You must turn the breaker off for 5 minutes.
Thank you guys for taking the time to put this up here. I had already called Whirlpool and they wanted $90 for a call out and then repair time and a new panel. I read this, turned the breaker off for 15 minutes and was HAPPY TO CANCEL MY APPLIANCE APPOINTMENT!!!!!
If after turning breaker off for 5 minutes and error code comes back on: 'communication code'= it's very likely the fuse blew. Depending on the oven there are usually only 1 fuse( but if microwave is built in there are 2). EZ CHEAP fix by replacing the fuse. Check fuse for continuity to trouble shoot/ confirm that's the issue. Obviously make sure breaker/ electric is shut while simply taking fuse out and just make sure you get same one to replace it! I believe they are 250 volt/ 20 amp fuses? IF you mistakenly buy a 20 amp fuse w lower voltage max. written on it= it will immediately blow again when electric turned back on. Bottom line: it's just changing a blown fuse. Hope this helps!
There may be a problem with the Appliance Manager Control, the Converter Control, or the associated wiring.
These are all lies and shill answers, designed to frustrate you to the point of calling a repair tech.
WOW. SO very glad I checked out these posts. A boiling (over) pot of water started my error code. Tried 5 minutes. Didn't work. Tried 30 -45 minutes and....TA DA....it worked! YES!
We had the same error. My first solution was to power down the unit at the breaker, eat dinner and then reposer the system. Error free now.
...and WOW, again....same scenario as above...all of a sudden the error occured. We turned off the breaker and voila! back in business. THANX so much
Wow. This totally worked. I was just told by a repair person that they were going to charge me $149 to come out and then the part to repair. They said the control board is so expensive it might be easier to replace the unit. 5 minutes and lots of money saved.
PROCEDURE: Before proceeding, press OFF, OFF, START to enter Diagnostic
mode and verify the error codes. Ensure AM software, UI software and EEPROM
CHECKSUM versions appear on the lower text line. If AM software and EEPROM
versions do not appear, UI and AM may not be communicating. Verify this for the
lower oven UI and for the microwave (upper oven) UI. The lower oven UI will show
the AM software version for the lower oven appliance manager, and the microwave
UI will show the AM software and EEPROM versions for the microwave appliance
manager.
If the lower oven UI is not displaying the AM software version, go to UI IS NOT
DISPLAYING AM SOFTWARE VERSION.
If the upper oven UI is not displaying the AM software and EEPROM versions,
go to UPPER OVEN UI IS NOT DISPLAYING THE AM SOFTWARE AND
EEPROM VERSIONS.
If lower oven UI and microwave UI are both displaying an error, go to LOWER
OVEN UI AND MICROWAVE UI ARE BOTH DISPLAYING AN ERROR.
UI IS NOT DISPLAYING AM SOFTWARE VERSION:
A. Unplug oven or disconnect power.
B. Open the back panels and make sure the P6 and P2 connectors are fully
inserted on the appliance manager and on the lower oven user interface board.
- If they are not plugged in, plug in connectors and go to step F.
- If they are plugged in, go to step C.
C. Visually inspect all wires between P6 on the appliance manager and P2 on the
lower user interface.
- Make sure wires are not cut or pinched.
- If the wires appear to be intact, perform a continuity check between
P6-1 of the appliance manager and P2-1 of the user interface board.
Complete for P6-2(AM) to P2-2(UI), P6-4(AM) to P2-4(UI) and P6-5(AM) to
P2-5(UI). All the measurements made should be less than 5 ?. If any of
these measurements exceeds 5 ?, go to step E.
D. Replace the appliance manager. Ensure all connectors are properly inserted.
E. Replace the wiring harness (signal). Ensure all connectors are properly inserted.
F. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
G. Plug in oven or reconnect power.
H. Observe for longer than 1 minute to determine if error has been repaired.
I. If error does not appear, initiate a bake cycle. Let the cycle run for at least
1 minute.
- If no error occurs, cancel the cycle, the problem has been repaired.
- If error occurs again, restart the troubleshooting procedure at step A.
At step D, replace the lower oven user interface board if appliance
manager has already been replaced.
- If both are replaced the problem has been repaired.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Usually answered in minutes!
I had an error code F6E0 "Lost Communication" also. Turned the breaker off for one minute and when I turned the power back on everything was fine
I did that several times and it still isn't working. I also bought a new control panel and it is not as bad but then goes back to the same display. Error f6EO lost communication. What the hell do I do now
Change the fuse. Cheap EZ fix. Hardest part is moving oven out to get to it. Hope this helps!
