KDF-50WE655 -- Set won't turn on, and Power/Standby light blinks 10
times followed by a 3-4 second pause and then repeats 10 blinks, and so
on.
I have unplugged set, waited 5 minutes and plugged back in,
but re-set did not work. When I press the ON button on front, or on
remote, green light comes on for about 3-4 seconds and the cooling fan
starts to turn up, then the whole thing shuts down and the red light
blinks 10 times as before.
Hi,
Pls confirm the blink codes, 10?
On some models:
Most repairs require component / board replacement. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic
components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a
soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service
manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.
Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself),
perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified
professional. Or consider the alternatives as proposed by the other
experts.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
IF You r good in electronic repair then the problems is ,you need to Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board. You will need a service manual to guide to do it your self........
If your TV blinks 10 times. Possible solution should be to check and replace on the G1 board Q1600 and Q1601 if shorted and R1614 and diode D1605 open.
You will need to replace the lamp ballast. part number A-468-798-14
i'll give you a link frome where you find all about your problem. plz download a pdf manual file from the link and then serch red light and then you find your problem

Did you check the fuse and inverter ?
How old is your tv ?
Try to turn OFF this unit for about a day make sure its unplug from the power outlet so it will be reset, because it needs a long time to reset the TV unit....
Hi,
The
Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in
the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to
blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the
STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.
Few
examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need
for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a
power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your
set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the
specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three
times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached.
Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power
problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your
set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set.
Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set
are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the
television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to
make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set
will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your
set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash,
follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
If
the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from
the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge
protector and not the television.
If
the issue continues to occur, service may be required.
Thanks

I will leave the set unplugged for 24 hours, but previously it was unplugged for 2 hours and that made no difference.
I had the set turned off for 2 more hours and nothing changed. I will try 24 hours if anyone else thinks that's the solution.
Set was made in May 2005, we got it in August. Don't know where to find fuse and inverter...
Previous suggestion was fuse and inverter. Don't know where to find these, and if a fuse is 'blown,' would there ANY power to make the red light flash?
OK --- It's time to call a repairman. This solution has gone WAY over my "paygrade!"
