Hi Ginko!
I have searched the net, and some has had the same problem, but I don't want to send it to service without asking the experts first.
This camera is not new anymore, I know that. It has been to service once before during the 1 year I have had it. Also I've tried to reset settings and remove both batteries in the camera. Tested lenses with another camera and it works fine. My 10D will only AF on the sealing if it is lightened.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks,
Arve

The only advice I can give is to check for a fusible link close to where the battery cables connect to the PCB. Look for a component with an F prefix eg f1001 or f001. I never desolder the fuse if it's open circuit, I just break a glass type fuse and solder the wire across the surface mount component. Just make sure the fuse wire is the same value as the original.

If you are unable to focus in broad daylight and it just hunts through the whole focus range without locking, then it sounds like a problem with sub-mirror pin (also called the second mirror pin). My 300D just had this problem and I had to send to service to get fixed. I sent to http://www.keh.com/ as they were at least $50 cheaper than going straight to Canon. Just got it backed and it works like a charm again.

Most likey your problem is the cf card reader when ever the camera was made they could have not heated up the board all the way causing a cold solderjoint after time this joint becomes week and gets disconnected on the back side no visual damage is seen causing you the error you are getting. best thing to do is take it to a repair shop and have them fix it or the manufacture should repair it for free because there is no fisical damage.

Have you actually cleaned the contacts or are you just looking at them and they "look" clean? Clean them with a cotton swab lightly dampened in rubbing alcohol.
