Try to check your cartridges. Pull it out one at a time then try to see it it stop blinking. Especially cartridges that was refilled. Improper refilling of cartridges causes them to stop responding to your printer and causes to malfunction. this was base from my experience.

Thanks adamzg for you contribution. However I tried something else and it really works, surprise surprise!!!! Anyone with this problem should try this-: I took the top casing off the printer and carefully removed the data strip (the clear plastic strip right behind the moving carriage). I cleaned this by wiping along its length with a soft cloth with just hint of water on the cloth. I was surprised at how much muck came off it. Replace it carefully making sure it passes through the slot correctly. Switched on and hey presto it worked much to my astonishment.

You have to look in the control panel for printers and faxes to get the status message for the printer. That will tell you why it's blinking. My printer seems to always be "jammed" even though it's not. It seems like there are some problems with the way the print heads track across the rail. It tends to jump really hard at the right hand extreme when initiating a move from right to left and then it says "paper jammed". Hitting the power button one time will some times eject the page. Other times I have to remove the back panel and pull the paper out the back.

Lather rinse repeat. I'm thinking of trying to return the thing on warranty but not sure if I have the receipt or will be able to return it.
