Kenwood 5090 Nothing comes through. It worked. Is there a reset button

It appears that you may have battery power but, no accessory power. Check you radio fuse in the vehicle and, behind the radio.

please select the 5.1 option in the audio menu of the reciever.

Same problem as many people who own the kenwood dpx501u head unit. The display has stopped working, pressed the reset button and this has done nothing. Is this a common fault?

There should be a reset button on the unit. That would probably be the first thing I would look at.

Do any of the lights on it come on. Have you tried to take it out and connect the red and yellow wire to the battery and the black to the truck frame? This to see of any of the lights come on. Did you try to press the reset button? If you press the button and nothing happens then you may have to send it back to Kenwood for them to reset it.

Protect:- The speaker wire has a short circuit, or touches the chassis of the vehicle, then the Protect function is activated. Wire or insulate the cable properly and then press the reset button. If the "Protect" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service centre.

a friend of mine who is into bypassing stuff...found this method from sumwhere and it worked on my system...
u need to reset the system first by pressing the small button right next to <ATT> using a ball point pen or something pointed... once it reboots, keep the <SRC> button pressed till the display goes off, then while keeping the <SRC> button pressed, press the <ATT> button for 3 seconds, while keeping both of these pressed at the same time, press the small <RESET> button next to the <ATT> button using something sharp... this hard resets the system and it reboots to a blank screen, press the <SRC> button once and you have all the options working...

Probably an issue with the switching power supply or possibly a shorted output. There are various protection circuits that will cause that. Most suspect is the SMPS (switch mode power supply) fault detection. (Check your output for a short though, i.e.shorted speaker wires)
