Are you saying that the motor runs but there is no brush rotation ?

If yes then firstly switch machine on then when you pull handle back as if to vacuum the carpet the clutch drive dial must turn to (drive, start, on,) position if it is stuck on (park, off. Stop, p,) position rotate it to drive etc as you pull handle back providing the clutch & both drive belts are ok the brush will spin.
The clutch drive dial knob is situated looking from the front of machine lower left hand side approx 50mm or 2” in diameter.

Please do this test & let me know results
Regards Chris..

Hoover power scrub brushes want spin

If you can hear the motor running it probably needs a new drive belt and if the motor isn't running there is an electrical fault that must be checked by a suitably experienced person.

Some of the older power scrubbers/polishers I have seen didn't have a belt but used a simple but substantial gear drive system that gave no trouble in my experience.

No suction or brushes turning after auto shutoff

Make sure that there are no clogs in any of the hoses. Also, check any belts. Make sure that they are in place and they are spinning.

Brushes won't turn

The brushes are powered by air suction from the motor. At the heart of this complicated system are roller bearings. When one fails the system fails. This is not one of the parts that Hoover thinks is needed on it's parts site so I've haven't found a way to repair this.

On hoover steam carpet cleaner, the brushes do not rotate on low or high settings.

Follow these steps if the Brushes Fail to Spin
•If the brushes on your Hoover carpet cleaner fail to spin, there may be a problem---some sort of blockage---with the suction or with the belt that turns the brushes.
Turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and inspect the brush area. Debris, strings, or pet hair may be tangled in the rollers, keeping them from turning. Use a pair of scissors to cut away any obstructions in this area. Flip the Hoover carpet cleaner back over, and turn it on to see if cleaning the rollers has solved the problem.
To check the belt, turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and remove the bottom plate screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. Investigate the belt area to see if it is broken or has somehow slipped off. If it is broken, you can order a part from Hoover.com or from many of the other online parts stores.
When the belt arrives, simply slide it on in place of the broken belt, reattach the bottom plate and turn the Hoover carpet cleaner right-side up. Turn it on to test your solution.

HI ,
I AM BILL AND I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS A SHIFTER VALVE NEAR THE REAR OF THE MOTOR AREA.
IF YOU LAY THE HANDLE DOWN FLAT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE VACUUM HOSE ATTACHES TO THE SUCTION MOTOR. CHECK THERE TO SEE IF IT HAS COME APART.

NEXT CHECK THE SHIFTER VALVE AND SPRING MOVE ROTATE 1/3 OF A TURN . WHEN YOU LOWER THE HANDLE THE SHIFTER HAS TO BE IN THE FLOOR MODE FOR THE SUCTION TO THE MAIN FLOOR SCRUBBER AND SPIN THE BRUSHES.
TO USE HAND TOOLS THE HANDLE HAS TO RAISE UP AND LOCK TO OPERATE ANY HAND TOOLS.
A PLASTIC LEVER BREAKS BY A SPRING CALLED THE SHIFTING LEVER. A SHIFTER VALVE LEVER IS THE RIGHT REAR, THE HANDLE DOWN. GOOD LUCK

MY PROBLEM ACTUALLY THE SHIFTER DOOR AND I HAVE A LOT OF SEARCHING TO DO TO FIND THAT.
OH! BY THE WAY THE LEVER PART # IS 90001320 $2.16 + SHIPPING AT SEARS PARTS DIRECT

Hi, i have a hoover steam vac agilty. the brushes on the bottom front quit spinning. they are not locked up as i can freely turn them by fingers. is there a belt that i need to replace? if so, how do i get...

The brushes on all hoover steam vacs are air opperated it uses the suction of the vacuum motor to spin a turbine and in turn spin the brushes. Most likely that path of air is clogged with hair or carpet fuzz. On the top of the machine there is a little clear cover undr that cover there is a screen which keeps that hair for entering the turbine kinda like you clothes dryer lint trap. Take the cover off and clean that screen this should help. If you have any other questions or need parts for that machine or any other visit www.stevessewandvac.com

Hoover sttem cleaner

The brushes spin by virtue of an air driven turbine. This turbine uses a little of the motor suction to turn a large fan which turns the brushes. If you look behind the clear glass window on the front right hand side of the machine, you will see a screen which acts as a filter to keep debris out of the turbine. If this screen becomes clogged, it will affect the flow of air to the turbine and the brushes will slow down or stop all togeather.
Also, if the lid of the recovery tank is not on correctly, the suction will be compromised and the brushes will not turn and the machine will not pick up water off the carpet.
