That is typical to have extra power connectors not plugged in. The PSU will have extra connectors in case you add other peripherals. Most likely you just have a corrupted operating system. A system restore if you have the disc would be the easiest way to repair this. However you will lose your data. If you have the restore disc they typically will have some repair utilities to try and fix the corruption.

To repair corrupted system file/s, boot up with the Windows installation CD then -
Press R to repair when instructed.
Press 1 or Enter to repair the C:\Windows folder.
Then type chkdsk /r and then press Enter.
The repair process will take quite a long time.

I have a acer aspire x1700 that will not boot gives me a message that says windows failed to start status 0xc0000034. it will not run a disk

Hi,

You can try two things:

1. Boot up and Immediately begin tapping the F8 key. When the Option menu comes up select "Last known good configuration"
2. Sounds like you need to reboot using your windows recovery disc.

If it will not boot up using the disc, try again but press F12 while booting (Sometimes F2 or Del) to get into the Bios settings. Here you can tell the computer to boot up from a disc.

When booted, select Repair your Computer.

Hi, when I turn on the Acer Aspire 5920, the acer screen comes on, the bar across the bottom moves, then it goes to a blank dark screen with a blinking cursor. I have tried turning off and turning on and...

Check if your hard rive indicator light is flashing (has disc shape icon or can shape icon next to it). If it is then put in your windows disc and do a startup repair. Make sure it is booting from the disc drive first. if it isnt flashing then you may have a dead hard drive. Try taking the hard drive out and putting it back in.

I recently had a bankerfox.a virus and tried to repair it using a download and now the computer will not boot and keeps powering down when I try to boot from the selection screen. Is this problem...

You could boot, press the F8 while booting, and "IF" the option for 'boot to last known good configuration' option is there, use it.
This should boot as normal, then download and install either AVG free edition, or Avast free edition, run and remove the virus that way.
I hope this helps, but note, not all systems allow the boot to last good option.

Creating recovery discs After setting up the computer for the first time, be sure to create a set of recovery discs of the full factory image. the recovery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recover the operating system and software to factory settings in case of system instability or failure.
