Look for the second cluster of digits of the model number. It will be a number divisible by 6 or 12, and represents the nominal BTU of the system in thousands. A ton of air conditioning equals 12,000 BTU, and 24 divided by 12 equals 2, so the data plate below indicates the system is 2 tons.Mar 20, 2019
10-20-12. Add a comment with brand of pump, model number, approx age of unit. Call the installer, call local pool company. Read product manual troubleshoot section. Hello, this is a 3 ton unit. There are 12,000 btu per ton. The number 36 in the model number represents rhe tonnage of the heat pump, so 12,000 x 3 = 36,000 which is 3 tons.

There should be a square sticker or metal plate that tells you the model # the #'s that comes close to the multiplecation of 12 =to tonnage, example ( asbv036g-1 the 36 = 3 tons 12x3=36 (gdhe420-1 = ==3-1/2 tons cooling 12x3 plus 6-1/2 ton = 3-1/2 tons the serial # tells the year it was made.....080808 , the first 4-#'s tells you the month--- for 4 #'s this is aug.- year 08 !
