Hi! I have just bought an extra 2GB for my NC6320 to have 4GB in it. I've inserted the new 2GB modul into one of the sockets and the memory was still 2GB. I've taken the old 2GB modul out and put the new 2GB modul in, and it showed 2GB, so it was working. I'm using my laptop with the factory installed 500MB modul and an extra 2GB, so having 2,5GB alltogether, which means both memory bays are working. What is the reason that I cannot get out more then 2,5GB from my laptop?

Hi,

As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.

You do not require any drivers or bios update.

Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB

Further questions? let me know.

I upgraded Memory to 4GB with Two 2GB SD Ram Modules but System shows Only One 2GB module and does not show/recognize second module. BIOS Setting Shows Second Slot/RAM Module Not Activated.

is the module in properly?,is anything broken?? switch them around and see if the module is good or not, also, just because the motherboard supports 2 modules,if intel only recognizes 2gb then that is all, whether you have 2 1gb modules or 2 2gb modules, upgrade your intel chip and upgrade your bios

Have compaq nc6320...upgaded ram from 2gb to 4gb...do i need to uprage bios..or?? thanks. lare

Hey mate,

you shouldn't. Windows will recognise the extra memory and allow you to play with to maximum potential depending on operating system. i.e. Windows 32bit has a RAM limit of 3.5gb while Windows 64bit is limitless.

I would update the chip sets and bios driver anyway as there are usually a lot of fixes for things you didn;t know where strangling the system.

hp.com will have everything you need.

Good luck with it.

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

My laptop HP Compaq 6510b Notebook PC . Can I upgrade the momary from 2G Ram To 4G of Ram ? . And the prosser Cor2Deu 2Gspeed Can I upgrade it to Cor I5 . Thank You

CPU upgrade is a big NO.
The core I5 is a different socket, and modern laptops use mobile CPU's.
Memory upgrade is ok, you can fit 4GB "Up to 4GB of 667-MHz DDR2 SDRAM, dual channel memory support "

Problem with upgrading my acer extensa 5620z memory to 4GB

Hi there.
I recommend you get another stick of SODIMM to replace what seems to be the faulty stick.
If you are using XP or Vista X86 (32bit) then the system will only recognize 2.8 - 3GB of memory, only 64bit operating systems recognize the full 4GB.

Good luck ad thanks for using FixYa!!
