Locked dvd tray.

To unlock, manually press and HOLD the open/close button & the stop button simultaneously, and HOLD them both down until the lock picture disappears.   The DVD will eject when you press the open/close button. 

To lock the DVD inside the machine, repeat the same step, and it will lock it inside. 

Often if there is a CD/DVD disk that fall inside of the system that disrupt the tray and or the mechanical parts of the tray. To make it open/close

Turn off the power cable for 10 sec,and then on again and press eject........and NO MORE PROBLEM

I had the same problem on my Sanyo DWM390 DVD Player. Found out later that My 2 year old was the culprit. Apparently there's a Demo Lock feature that will prevent the DVD from ejecting and you can activate the LM(Lock Mode) by holding down the Eject button for more than 10 sec. You can unlock it by doing the same thing. HOpe it helps, i was relieved i didn't have to buy a new player.

My jvc dvd player says locked on it and wont eject the disk inside! ive tried lots of diffrent ways but it just doesnt seem to work.

I had the "Locked" problem and solved it by completely unplugging the unit, waiting about 60 seconds and plugging it back in while holding the "stop" button. The tips posted here were very helpful, thanks

Is there a lock front panel button or on the remote in the menu some where?? thats what it sounds like as someone went into your menu and locked ya out??

I had this problem with my Panasonic RV-30. Basically anything I tried to do displayed "locked" on the player and "tray locked" on the screen. It let me play DVDs but not open the tray, or even turn the power off. To temporarily open the tray I was able to by unplugging the player and pressing eject right as I plug it back in. To fix the problem I reset the player to the factory defaults. I had to download the manual to find out how to do this. For my machine , when it was in the stopped mode, I had to hold down the rewind and pause buttons at the same time, then hold down the eject button for about 5 seconds (until "initializing" went away). Viola, my machine works again.

I tried messing with parental controls in the manu and it was unlocked, so it doesn't appear that was the problem. It looks like the machine got "confused" and needed the reset.

Usually panasonoc/technics have a tray locking device for all CD/DVD products for transit purposes(sometimes a removable platic clip), this is usually situated on the underside of the unit (see unpaking notes in handbook). Check to see if it is in the unlock position. You could try switching the unit off, then switch it back on whilst holding in the stop key on the unit, this often resets some functions.

If you keep the open button pressed in for about five seconds it will say unlocked on the display and be back to normal

Hold the open/close button on the set down until it unlocks and the tray will open in about 10secs. That's fixed mine up straight away ay;)

The manual has instructions for this. it is a feature to keep kids from opening the dvd tray and using it as a cupholder, etc. when the trya is open, push and hold the open/close button until "locked" displays. to unlock, push and hold the button until "un-loc" displays. simple, eh?

Protect-plus lockout feature

On certain RCA, Memorex and other clone brand units, there's front-panel button lockout feature called Protect-Plus responsible for causing this aggregating problem.

The primary design intent of this feature is to disable the unit's DVD tray, including the front panel and remote control buttons (for demo units on display in stores) so the disc inside can't be stolen. The secondary intent is to prevent anyone from interfering with timed-recordings previously entered.

To deactivate the Protect-Plus front-panel button lockout condition, press and hold the POWER button (using your remote control) until the lock icon disappears. You will have to hold-down the button for about 10 seconds or so. The Memorex MVDR2102 remote control button you need to press is labeled Standby/ON/OFF rather than POWER.

Activating the Protect-Plus lockout feature works the same way. Be aware, the unit can inadvertently become locked, should you fall-asleep on top of the remote control and the POWER button gets held-down for a sustained period of time, long enough to trigger this troublesome feature.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

1. Ensure the child lock feature is disabled.

1. Attempt to open the disc tray.
2. If the issue is not resolved, turn off the DVD player.
3. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
5. Attempt to open the disc tray.
6. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the POWER+STOP+EJECT buttons; this will sometimes cause the disc tray to open.

Press the eject button on the machine until the door opens or until it says unlock.

Had the same prob with a sony dav dz it kept saying locked but after hours and hours of pressing random combinations it came off im sure it was unplug plugback in then hold power and open tray and tap stop or a combination of those buttons.i woud try it again on mine to make sure but i do not want to lock it again.

Unplug the DVD player. Plug it in again then power up. Then the tray will open normally.

On my Oritron (2001 model), I found the solution just to be turning it off, counting to 60 (about 1 minute), then turning it on again and pressing the tray/eject/open button ... on the machine (my remote works when it wants to for a couple of years, now).

It is just malfunctioning and may be about to go out or may be out.

1. Turn on the player with the disc tray empty. 2. Press and hold the NEXT button on the front panel of the player. 3. While holding the NEXT button, press the STOP button on the remote. 4. The player will reset and power off. Your preferences have been reset. 5. Power on the player and set language and parental controls as desired. Return to normal

On SONY DVP-NS575P, when the DVD is in stand-by mode, hit RETURN (bent arrow), ENTER and ON/OFF. This should unlock the tray.

To unlock-whilst unit is turned off press and hold "stop/clear" button on remote and press the eject button on the unit.

On the remote their is a locked button. Push it and your fixed.

Press the open/close button for a loog time

Unplug appliance for approx 5 mins wait to reset chech menu on remote for help

PRESS 77 RIGHT ARROW AND IT WILL OPEN

If your DVD player is the 400 disk Sony unit, someone has locked you out. The operators manual tell you how to set and un-set the child lock (page 70 and 71). If you don't have the manual, it is available in PDF format from the sony website. plh

I had the tray locked problem on my Panasonic DVD RP91. The solution was to press power on the remote and stop on the dvd player at the same time. Instantly fixed.

Please press the POWER-ON Buttom on the IR-Fernbedienung and at the same time the BACKWARDS-Buttom on the DVD-Player

The best solution is the only one. ATTENTION: This solution doesn't work using the remote (I tried to surf and unlock from the comfort of my couch .... no way!) Get off your butt and walk over to the DVD player. The bottom line is that your wife, husband or kid (just like my 2-year-old son did) held down the eject (open/close) button too long and your tray locked. Do the same. Just hold it down (even though the "lock" sign disappears and it shows play-time) keep holding it down until it dispays un-lock. That's that! So easy. Now you can finally get that DVD out that you've been watching over and over for the past 5 days and pop in something new! HALLELLUEAH!

Throw it out the window and against a tree and never buy another sanyo product again
