You'll have to get a usb cable and physically connect the hp officejet 6310 printer to the computer and boot up the computer while the printer is plugged in and on.

You may have to download the drivers for the printer from the hp.com website. Enter the model # of the printer in the search or query line on the hp.com website to find the drivers.

When you install the printer wait till you are prompted to hook up the usb cable. If you hook it up sooner that is the problem. You can have the usb cable to printer but not to the computer. Then run your install disc and you should be fine.

The power cord module A/C adapter should get warm when plugged into the wall receptacle. There is no o/o switch.

Check eBay or www.partsurfer.HP.com for a new A/C adapter.

Of course. Printers never include the USB cables. You'll have to buy one if you don't have a spare

Hook up the printer.  Turn it and the computer on.  Let Windows find the printer. Windows will ask you if you have the disk. Insert the disk then. If you need aditional help look at the web link for the HP printer that you have.  See Link Below:
