Pull off the knob and then see if you can push the shaft in. If you can, then the knob is hitting something, preventing you from being able to push the knob in. Adjust the knob until you can push it in. If you can't push the shaft in with the knob off, then the control valve is broken and you will have to replace it.

Search your local internet or yellow pages to find a Miele dealer in your area. You should have a qualified service person come and replace the valve, because I believe on that model you may have to remove the glass top, plus it is a gas valve, so a gas fitter should change it. You can also visit their website and request a service call or information.

Ignatior keeps sparking and stop why

i presume the sparking is actuated by when you push down on the knob. there is a switch under there. remove the knob by pulling it and use some small drop of cooking oil on the shaft to free it up. pres and pull till it works freely. this should allow the spring in side to push the knob up easily and turn of the sparking.

How do i turn off child lock

I expect you have found the solution by now since this post is so old - but for any other that are searching, just push the child lock knob down and turn the knob and it should pop back up, turning the gas back on.

When I push down and turn the knob to "on", the knob pops back up causing the burner to turn off. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank You

You might need to hold it down for a few seconds if the cook top has automatic flame detection. A bi metal strip (or some other form of thermostat) near the burner will need to heat up before the burner can lock on.

My 2 year old sons played "drummer boy" on the knobs of the Viving Designer Series cooktop and now they will not turn. 2 of the 4 popped back and work but the other 2 did not. Tried turning them but no...

they must be bent....look around the knob make sure you have an equal amount of space betwween knob and stove...if not, try to carefully bend it until the knob straightens up....

The jenair made a popping sound, wasn't even turned on. Then found it didn't work at all. Flipped the breaker, and it would immediately flip back, the Jenair would also make the same popping sound.... Do...

I had the same problem. Mine was caused by liquid seeping into the infinite switch (the switch that gets rotated by the knob to set burner temperature). This caused one of the live wires to short to ground within the switch. Bad Design IMHO. Replacing the switch fixed the problem (you can get replacement parts at Searspartsdirect.com - search using the cooktop model number).
You first need to remove the unit from its installation. Start by disconnecting the exhaust fan from the ductwork. Then push the cooktop up.
To get at the switch you need to remove the top by taking off only the top row of screws all around the unit and also in the down draft cavity (the down draft cavity is where the grease guard mesh is)

Burner with intermittent feature won't light once hot; spart OK - - no gas.

mdpaul, sounds to me like 1 of the burner switches for the ignition is sticking. There is a small area where the switches turn to that shuts down the ignition. If the switch has failed from heat or is out of position, this can cause this issue. The switch is designed so when you turn the knob it closes the contact. The switch has to be locked into postion on this model. There is a push fit type retainer that locks this down. Pull the knobs off and turn with a pair of plyers to see if one is moving around. If so then with a deep socket, see if you can tighten the retainer by pushing down on it. Hope this helps.
