The K-cup must be getting pierced on the top, where it lets the coffee grounds out into the cup during the brewing process. This usually means the K-cup isn't seated properly in the basket.

The first thing that you will need to do the descaling is up to 48 ounces of white vinegar. The vinegar will be run through your machine to dissolve the mineral build up in the machine that is left behind by the water in the heating process.When the water is heated some of the mineral content in the water is turned into a hard rock like material. This adheres to the sides of the tubing and will eventually close off the flow of the water through the tubing. Running the vinegar through the tubing will dissolve the mineral and clean up the tubing in the machine.


Next, place the vinegar into the water container. Make sure that the "Auto Off" feature is turned off.During this cleaning process do not have any K-cups in the machine.Then using a ceramic mug to catch the liquid, press the brew cycle and then discard the liquid that comes out into your sink. Do this until the "add water" comes on. Then let the unit stand for at least four hours. Do not turn the unit off during this time.


After the four hour plus time period,discard any vinegar left in the water tank and fill the tank with fresh water. Now repeat the process of running the brew cycle into the mug and discarding the liquid until you get the "add water"message again. By this time you should have all of the residual vinegar purged from the system, but if you still notice any residual taste then run more water through the unit until it is clear.


This should clean the machine and takeaway the "DE-SCALE" message. If you still have the message after the cleaning then you may have to repeat the process again.


Also at this time it is a good ides to clean the pins that pierce the K-cup. To do this take a small paperclip and bend the end of it out so that you have about a 1" prong sticking out. Push the paper clip into the hole of the top and bottom pins. This will also clean out any material that maybe stuck inside the pins. Run another cup of clear water after doing this to push out any debris that you may loosen up by doing this.

This may be one of two issues:
1. The pump is malfunctioning which can cause the internal reservior to not completely fill which causes issues during brewing. My unit dribbled random amounts of water instead of brewing for about a week before the pump died completely.
2. The puncture seal isn't in the right position. Open the Keurig fully so you can see the sharp puncture pin. Very Carefully push the black rubber gasket around it all the way up. Then pull it back down about 1/16". Brew a cup, if the problem continues, try sliding the gasket further down by increments of 1/32".
